  1. Thanks all. I'm humbled. It's become one of my favorites for sure.
  2. Use the display cases upside down,,,they'll stack quite nicely. Wrap the car in toilet paper best you can then put the base back on ( now top ) and stack the next one on top and so on and so on . Be careful putting them in the trunk ( heat kills ) None of mine are in those plastic display cases. So I just bought 100 cardboard 3x4x10 tuck boxes for when we make the move to AZ. And mine will be inside the car ( or truck ) in the A/C http://www.ebay.com/itm/300741361321?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT. After I got them , I realized I think I may need at least another 50 to pack everything up
  3. The Cincinnati Challenge is next weekend. Owensville Ohio. Next saturday... Anyone going.? I'll have 2 tables of goodies for sale http://cincinnatiautoreplicas.org/id25.html
  4. Thanks Bill. I really really wanted this one with the top up. But after I ruined an original AMT 61 Ford up top.(don't ask ..its kind of a sore spot still ) I'm done with that idea. I've got one more top and it's reserved for my Amt 61 Sunliner
  5. Well done. Never did care for how monogram did the valance on this one or the challenger
  6. Love it. My stash stops at 62 I think. I might have to rethink maybe grabbing some newer model years
  7. a few more of the 1/1 ,,,maybe it was actually diamond blue as John suggested ? But my gutt tells me its the Surf Foam blue. The mirror closeup probably shows the color the best Ir-regardless ,,, Im not a ford guy but I really liked this car.
  8. This car didn't have any green tint to it at all It was definitely a REALLLLLY light blue .Per the spec sheet I think it was called Surf Foam Blue maybe . The sun was really bright that day and In my pictures the car almost looks white . Where as my kit build isnt as blue as my pictures make it out to be in person. At least how I see them all on my monitor .
  9. Thanks all for the kind words. Since these pics were taken I took a yellow sharpie to the fender and deck lid nameplates to give them the gold look like on the 1/1 . Its now in the case and I'm lookign around the stash for the next victim . Thinking i need to get back to my 59 Ford Galaxie build. A final parting shot of the 1/1 that was my inspiration. Even in this picture the true color looks a little to white compared to what I remember the actual car was . My phone camera doesn't capture colors as well as I would like .
  10. Sounds like a good idea. And I have to agree with her. I am 'semi-retired ' meaning I work from home in the winter. Currently doing a full blown ground up restoration on a 1968 Charger RT for a client . Summers I work at CVG Airport here locally. Airfield and grounds maintenance, We take care of the entire grounds which is 7000 acres ( not a typo ) includes landscaping , grass, trees, fencing , etc etc etc . We are planning a cross country move to southern AZ in the next 16-18 months. So I got a pretty good idea what your dealing with . We are actually looking for acreage and/or investment property out there now. My wife's sister moved there 15 years ago, and her mom out there last summer . I certainly wish you the best on your forthcoming adventure .
  11. Wow, LOVE the color combination Someday when I grow up ( not likely at this point ) I hope I can make mine look this good. So what about this move. Downsizing and to a warmer climate maybe ?
  12. Sure do. But its been some time. I dont follow any kind of open wheel races. And have never done a model of one. But I would surely think about one of these in my case
  13. Thanks, But yes. its the original kits molded in one piece chassis . The over spray effect was done with a quick pass with a rattle can . Primer 1st, then over spray body color then hand paint the details
  14. One I've been messing with off and on for about the past six months. We were at a local cruise in last year and this car was there. I knew I had my color combination for the builtup I had stashed away Painted it with Krylon shortcuts Bonnet blue, then 3 coats wet look clear. And hand rubbed with nothing but rubbing compound . The Interior was done last fall, so I'm not real sure where the blue is from. I had originally did the white 1st then taped it up to spray the blue , but had so much bleed under I ended up practically redoing it all by hand with Tamiya white acrylic ( not fun btw ) . Added a shifter and turn signal lever to the column. Carpet is dark blue embossing powder. I bought a bunch of old annuals top boots at a swap meet a little while back and this is one of them. And Ive no idea where its from or how close it is to the correct one. I had initially tried to adapt an up top from the old amt 61 Ford annual but failed miserably,,,,,. so top down it is. Wire wheels and wide whites are from the 1962 Thunderbird kit. The mirror and front fender indicators are from the current Starliner kit Well , there it is. Its far from flawless. But after seeing the 1/1 I had to see how close I could get. Thanks for looking , Comments or criticisms more than welcome. I'm a big boy
  15. by all means pm me a list
  16. Good idea. but the cars I see . Most of them will struggle to get $450
  17. Good timing. I have a pile I need to get rechromed now
  18. Last few things Ive bought didnt have tax added to it ( most recent was just last week )
  19. Im in . plus any other early Ford SS cars . Or even some different Mopar or GM cars from the same period . I mean while your it.
  20. Well I tried the purple power ( white jug I think ) and Im not impressed . It took 2 days to take chrome off a bumper. And even then didnt take all of it off. And never did loosen loosen the paint on an old annual that was brush painted years ago ( no idea the brand or type of paint ) After about a week in it with no better results . I took it out , washed it off with plain water and sprayed it down with easy off , stuck it in a ziplock freezer bag like always . And the next morning scrubbed it with an old tooth brush and 90% of the paint was gone. I can spray a chrome bumper with easy off and the chrome is gone in 5 minutes at the max . The downfall obviously is the smell and make sure to wear gloves.
  21. I wonder who determined this ?
  22. Ya got to. Thats easily the best trick Ive learned since spray paint. The more pronounce the emblem is in bare plastic the better it looks once completed . If its real faint make sure you go light on the paint. I'll put a piece of tape over the emblem leaving it bare plastic till my last coat of primer . Then do the BMF, and one final light primer coat before paint. Clean the emblems off exposing the chrome then clear it . Its takes a little practice but its super easy to pick up . Make sure you trim it as close to the emblem as possible or else it leaves and edge around the emblem you can see . Look close you can tell I didnt trim this one close enough. This one was my first time doing it that way.
  23. Thanks , Its an old annual. I bought it a couple years ago as someday build. it was missing tires wheel's and top boot and had the funky custom tail light lenses ( it was pretty cheap ) . Body had some of the custom stuff glued to the hood so it required some body work . But the side applique panels behind the rear wheels were perfect on this one. I actually have a 2nd kit and it didn't come with a boot either. SO I really had nothing to compare to . I have one form a 63 Ford and it was to short exposing the opening. And both the kits I have the opening is molded pretty large compared to the 62 or 63 Galaxie convertibles I have The boot cant be much shorter or it exposes the opening in the filler panel . If its right or wrong It fits and looks ok. So it stays I could actually use the stock red tail light lenses if anyone has a spare set. Otherwise I'll make something .
  24. One Ive been working on off and on for about the past 4 - 6 months when I get inspired. I saw the 1/1 at a local cruise in last summer and knew I found the color combo I wanted for my builder. Not sure if its OE correct or not. But I like it and thats all I needed. Its not a true replica but it fills the niche. Color is Krylon shortcuts Bonnet Blue with testors clear. Interior is ( I think ) Tamiya french blue ( been painted a while and the can is now long gone ) trimmed in white , with a dark blue embossing powder for carpet. Added a shifter and turn signal lever to the steering column. Sunvisors and top boot are probably not correct in such a dark blue ( boot was missing on the car when I got it and this was in my parts box so I made it work ) I was tryng to make an uptop from an AMT 1961 Ford fit,,,and failed horribly.
  25. Mark, I can use this 63 for something else at some point. But I want a 62 to convert to a sedan . I have a couple possibilities to get one in the works ,,,,,one an original kit and also a hurt promo I know there's a resin avail, I just prefer stryene if at all possible
