14" wheels were in fact avail on 1970 Hemi powered B bodies ( I edited to add the year ) Hemi car wheels are 1966-67 are 7.75- 14 , blue lines in 1966 and redlines in 1967 F70-15 is the only tire option in 1968 and 1969 on a Hemi car , avail in either a white or red pin stripe F70-14 is standard on 1970 avail as a white pinstripe or raised white letters , F60-15 is optional on 1970 avail as a raised white letters only G60-15 is the only tire avail on 1971 hemi powered B bodies.

I used to think this way. BUT,,,,,, I got lucky last year and while looking for a clean builder 59 and 60 Edsel convertible kits. I ended up with 2 near mint in box unbuilt examples. The 58 had a cracked upper windshield frame header...no pieces missing just a hair line crack The 60 is missing the custom wheel covers. Bought them both for under $100,,,, or about what a nice builtup sells for. The 59 I built last year. The 60 is on the to do list. Maybe ????? ,,,later this year . For the same costs as a decent builder....i get to start with virgin plastic and mint chrome.

Thanks Ron, Sorry to report but this one will probably be a few years before I even think about bring it to the work bench . To be honest I didn't know I even wanted one till I saw it sitting on the table yesterday. Thats when I decided I had to have it. Although I would actually prefer a 64 Fury convertible. (Guess you can imagine one of those in now on my want list,,,,dang it ) The seller also had a pretty nice builder original Revell 1961 ( maybe it was a 62 ) New Yorker conv as well. And I nearly pulled the trigger on to. But I was there to thin the stash not keep adding to it . So I decided on just this one. Love that red Fury ,,,,,If you cant muster up the inclination to finish that bad boy . Send it my way , I'll take care of it for you

Went to the Cincinnati Challenge swap meet today . Picked up some decals , a few parts I didn't know I needed but couldn't leave without them . Best of all is ,,,,, I picked up a really decent original issue 1964 Dodge Polara convertible. Built but nothing ever painted and no funky custom stuff glued on. Only downfall is the fender well headers were added ,,,,but thats an easy fix with the parts stash . I'll just have to look for the stock wheel covers and the top boot . This one will be a ways down the list so there's no rush to find them .

I will not buy a so called glue bomb unless its something stupid expensive and rare as a mint kit . Even then I prefer to find something not all glued up and near impossible to get apart without an act of congress Odd part ,,,,,Ive seen so called glue bombs sell for more than a mint unbuilt kit. I guess its all about the saving it ????? Just a few months ago I stumble on to a built AMT 1968 Roadrunner. The car looked like it got dipped in vinyl the paint was so thick. Glue marks on the glass . front wheels looked like they were glued on by a 2 year old they had so much camber Just an ugly build. Sold for almost $20. not including postage . Ive got mint sealed kits of that exact car I cant get $20 ea for Sorry, I dont get it

Define 'glue bomb' My definition is a heavily glued nearly impossible to get apart model. Those I actually try to avoid......unless it's near impossible to find example . Old annuals builtups I actually search for those.

Now that you mention it. All but 2 builds I've done the past year have been FoCoMo products. So maybe a closet ford guy.

Wouldn't matter to me. I would be perfectly fine with the old and outdated MPC metal axle chassis if they want to. I dont display my builds with the chassis up

Now that the MPC body has the stock rear window opening in it. To me this would be a no brainer. But thats just my opinion

Great timing. a 63 Impala is on my radar at the moment. As I just picked up a really clean 62 convertible annual. And what's one more. Looking at the pics Steve posted I think I'll look for an AMT. Preferably a convertible. I have a 62 Bel air I can use for parts, although I'm not against just gluing the hood shut and live with it either

99% of everything I own is fair game to build. The only kit I have that will remain mint in box is a sealed MPC Barry Setzer Vega funnycar. I built one as a kid and wanted a mint one for today. Ive also got a few builtups of the car on hand as well . So I am good. I've also got a mint unbuilt 60 Edsel kit....i bought it to build not collect dust. Unless someone offers me stupid money for it

Thanks all. I see the paint reference sheet I posted shows 1960 Falcon ( its from Auto Color Library .com ) Maybe the names changed due to body style referenced . But looking at these sheets I 'm pretty confident its code F . In my pics of the 1/1 its looks really washed out,,an almost white due to the sun that day ,,, but it was most definitely a really light blue. Thanks again.
