  1. Getting ready to head up this morning. This will be my 1st time at this show. Be the old guy wearing a Bengals hoodie sweatshirt
  2. I didn't think it did. Neither of the 2 builtups I have ...have either a top or boot. So wanted to be sure. But with a little work I can make one from a 61 ford sunliner kit work well enough.
  3. Why is there an mpc 1970 challenger at that link?
  4. Found an acrylic color I want to use on an interior, but its gloss. I want more of a semi gloss Can I spray testors satin clear lacquer over it with no issues ? maybe start with light coats ?
  5. Thanks, I have 2 original convertibles neither one had an up top with them or instructions. So I wasn't sure, but doubted it . I just bought an original 61 Up top and will modify it to work on the 60
  6. Does anyone know if the original AMT 1960 Ford Sunliner came with an up top like the 61 did ? My next project is a replica of a local car near me and I like it with the uptop as shown . Ive test fitted a top from my 61 kit and it might work with minimal work around the vent wing area . If thats my only source I'll proceed as planned
  7. A hardtop ? That would make it NOT one of the original 100 sedans built ,,there for isn't a Thunderbolt in its truest form ?
  8. Many thanks, That I didn't know. I read about the one found in the barn and where Bonner himself tried to buy several years earlier before he passed. The article stated he knew it was his car instantly because it still had the chrome upper fan shroud he had done back when he raced it . So I ' assumed ' it was the maroon car . Thanks for the info
  9. Bonner had a team of cars. I know of at least 2 were Burgundy. 1st one his driver crashed and totaled 2nd one is the car I believe is restored today . Found it in a barn in Georgia I believe Thanks , But the Gas Ronda and Hubert Platt cars were built at least 15 years ago ,,maybe longer . Ive been going thru my stash to get ready to thin down. and When I saw I had a bunch of these put back and will with several decals sheets as well. I knew it was time to get them done. It was super easy to do them all, basically all 4 at once . The interiors are all the exact same . Some subtle variations underneath just to give each one some kind of character. ( white headers on the Tasca Ford car versus satin dark grey on 2 and flat black on the 4th ) But basically the only differences are exterior color and decals . On the 4 that I just built the chassis plate and suspension are all the same - all 4 the front and rear suspensions were glued in and the whole assy was rattle canned satin black at the same time. I had some major decal issues on the Bob Ford car that just about made me put them all back in the box . But overall it made building 4 cars at once pretty easy . To be honest the hardest part of the entire project was finding a color that looked close to the tops of the doors and dash on the 1/1 cars.
  10. Last one of the rush Ive been on. While looking thru my stash I realized I had nearly a half dozen of these kits still sealed. Well,,not any longer. Im now down to 2 left and neither are no longer sealed. This will be the last one for a while. Spring is coming quick and outside duties combined garage time are calling louder every day. Painted with Tamiya TS11 Maroon topped off with Testors wet look clear ( I like this clear a lot ) . Decals are from Top Ends ( aka Jack Smith ) Just lightly rubbed out in an attempt to remain close to a finish I feel is about right for the era . Same interior colors as the others, a mix of Tamiya Champagne Gold a with duplicolor for the dash and upper door frames . Chrome accents on the interior were done with a 1mm chrome pen . Wheels on this one are Testors champagne cold ( its just a touch darker then the same color from Tamiya ). In person Its kind of like a dirty silver. I had the ones shown here , all Gold and chrome reverse on it and I think these looked the best compared to the 1/1. I had issues with the fender decals so I decided to leave them off to kinda sorta replicate the car as its restored today and still look something like the days of old . The rest went on with ZERO issues . The black in the body side moldings is a black sharpie then take the side of a tooth pick and drag along the edges to get a good clean crisp line in the black As well as a final parting shot with the rest of the family . Thanks for looking and comments / criticisms more then welcome .
  11. Paypal sucks. I quit sellign a few years ago because of it . True strory. I sold 3 dealer promos all to one guy via ebay. Total with postage was right at $450 . A week goes buy and he contacts me stating all 3 cars got damaged in transient . My mistake but I failed to put insurance on them even after he asked me to . Turned out to be a HUGE mistake on my part. So I asked for pictures of the damages, and gave him my email address, days turn into weeks of messaging back and forth with excuse after excuse why I got no photos to verify damages. it was either his email provided was filtering out the pictures, he was out of the country on business , or my email was filtering out the pics. NOT once did I get pictures of anything . Then on the very last day he was eligible to file a claim via PayPal buyer protection , sure enough he did. Paypal contacted me stating he claimed damaged goods and wanted to send them back . I plead my side , but finally ended up having to take back said 'damaged' cars. Then about a week goes by I get this strange box with nothing but a # and a zip code in the return address section. But because it was insured I had to sign for it, and without opening it to see the contents. Sure enough he sent back 2 cars to me worth about $20 total. and STOLE the 3 I sent him. I filed a claim with PayPal with pictures of what I sent him and what he sent me. PayPals reply, I signed for them case was over. And refunded the money to him. So he got my 3 cars, and all his money back. I sent him several nasty emails saying If I ever get to Los Angeles I WILL pay him a visit. I watched his feedback for the next month or 2. And you could read the feedback he got he did the exact same thing to several people I started closing down my store and ultimately quit selling on eBay altogether and closed my PayPal account. Now I only use Ebay to buy and usually pay with USPS money orders if the buyer will let me . Otherwise I use my wife's PayPal account . Am I taking a risk seller will send what I bought? Probably ,,, but I haven't had any issues to date btw . I know it adds a few days to the time I get my item . But I take comfort in the fact PayPal gets absolutely nothing from the sale .
  12. Even with the faults this kit has ( and there are several ) You sure make it look killer ( no pun intended ) I think I'm going to have to find one of these and build one for myself
  13. I bought about a half dozen of them off ebay ,,maybe 2 years ago ? , seller id is now TM resin I think . ( I believe the master was made by Wendel Sowers ) . I can get a picture of just the hood tomorrow if requested. I also bought one of the Harts part resin ones,,,and ended up dropping it in the trash. It was molded so thin at the front edge I couldn't get it to lay flat,,not matter what I did to it. Missing link sells a conversion bench seat interior for a base line model seat pattern for a 1968 or 1969 Roadrunner
  14. I vote fix only want needs fixed
  15. Using up unbuilts instead of letting the box collect dust . Wasn't trying to get dead nuts exact , but as close as I could with a reasonable effort . Painted with Duplicolor rattle can with Testors wet look clear. Interior is again, a mix of Tamiya Champagne Gold and Duplicolor Arizona Tan for the dash and tops of the doors. Seats were sprayed with flat clear for the rear and semi gloss for the 2 front buckets . Decals are from Jack Smith - aka Top End Decals. Thanks for looking in.
  16. Ive said it before, you are most certainly the KING of these old annuals, especially the interiors.
  17. Thanks, This particular car , the 427 flag was in the bottom / dogleg of the Ft fender. I have some small decals to place them as close to the original car as I can. The kit has them all in them molded in front edge of the fender just above the front bumper edge,,,,,But only about half the 1/1 cars has it there . Got a little bit done today on both this one and the Phil Bonner car. All the BMF work is done, glass is in. Interior tub is in. Sitting on its own 4 wheels . This one should be done in the day or 2 Need to decide which wheels on the Al Means/Bonner car , medium gold ( pass side ) or Testors champagne Gold ( drivers side ) ? Versus the restored car
  18. Mind if I ask why move from Phoenix to Cleveland ? we are planning a move in the opposite direction. I'm in northern Ky ( just across the river from Cincinnati Ohio ) Moving to the Tucson / Sahuarita / Green Valley Az. area in the next 16-18 months. Im 57 and have grown dang tired of the cold weather. This is my current bench area,, is behind the double sliding pocket doors in the lower level family room. The doors opened up give me almost a full 4' width opening. Bench itself Its about 2.5 feet deep and maybe 6 feet wide overall. Ive got two 4' long overhead lights . plus a 3 movable spot lamps for lighting. Not to mention my lighted magnifier is movable. ( anymore I need lots of lighting ) The Main work area of the bench is about 2' x2' . The rest is where extra parts manages to wonder off to. Unbuilts / Storage area is to the far left . Its 4' wide, 3' deep and maybe a little more than 7' high.. Its the unbuilt area - stuffed 2 kits deep in most of it and from just about floor to ceiling full. Builders and old annuals are stored on shelves over the bench on the back wall . Ive got some unbuilts stored in the laundry room / unfinished area of the basement . But that's mostly stuff I very rarely have a need to get into or planing to sell off to thin the stash . I added boards between the studs on the backside of the finished wall to give me an area to store paint , quick simple and easy . From idea to actually was maybe a little more than an hour . I spent more time dragging out the saw than I did anything else.
  19. Ok, That car. Ive seen this picture before and completely forgot about this one. I agree , its gold. But I'm going to assume with a champagne gold interior maybe ? And as an fyi, you know Competition resin makes a tear drop hood that fits this body ? ( I've got one ) And I think Drag City Casting makes one as well ??????? I'd be interested in a set of the decals to do this car for myself
  20. This car ? There is also a recreation around , its silver
  21. Keeping with my theme right now with all T bolts. Makes it easy to do as they're all basically the same car with different exterior colors and decals . Duplicolor white lacquer, Top End Decals ( aka Jack Smith ) for the decals. Interior is again, a mix of Tamiya and Duplicolor paints . Im currently trying to find a circular Quaker State decal for the rear sail panel before I clear it . EDIT found one I can live with . Comments or suggestions more than welcome.
  22. Thanks all, If I get a chance today for some bench time and If I pushed it, I could probably have the Reynolds Ford car done today. Chassis and suspension / wheel choice is done for it. And interiors are done for both. That's the advantage of building basically the same car over and over. They're all the same basic drive-train and interior colors,, just different exterior colors and decals. BUT, both bodies still need all the trim BMF work done and glass glued in. ( aka my least favorite part of building )
