  1. I'm playing with paint colors today. 3 very different colors All are 2 coats Tamiya Metallic Orange TS 92 just with 3 different base colors TS 11 is a dark maroon color on far left TS49 is bright red in center Last one far right is just the white spoon as base Over a very different base color yields 3 distinct colors Spoons are marked as to base color. I'm really liking the center one for a very near future build( not the next one) First. Under florescent lighting And yes. I know I can order the actual color for airbrush work. I'm just playing with what I have here / handy
  2. I remember someone was making 3d printed door handles for these kits I need a set of 3 for the Moebius 65 Dodge/Plymouth kits due to breakage . And I really don't want to relegate this kit to a parts kit just because of that
  3. A bump Mind if I ask the source for the wheels on the rear ? Kit tires I assume . if so how did you make them all fit Very nice build btw
  4. Depends entirely on subject matter for me
  5. Many thanks for the kind words I'm thinking its time to do the Sox Martin Plymouth here soon. Maybe even next Just need to make sure my old Fred Cady decal sheet is still good
  6. A quick build for me. maybe even a record . LoL Start to finish in under 2 weeks I think Straight from the box build , with exception I used the Auto trans version of the engine from the Plymouth kit . To more faithfully replicate the original car back in the day Tamiya plain red for the exterior. Titanium gold for the Interior Started off just so see if the decals were even still good. Luckily for me. they went on perfect with zero issues( knocks on wood ) I tried to stay true to the actual car using vintage photos from old magazines . Details like the white door window frames on a red body . Wheel choice , etc etc. * A builders note If I do another one using the rolled front pan. I would cut it off the mounting tabs and glue it to the front side. I dont care for how it makes the bumper fit per kit instructions.
  7. DONE. Start to finish in under 2 weeks. Which i think might be a record for me. Ain't it great to be retired. And I am super happy with how well it turned out.
  8. Got a lot done today. Chassis is in for the final time. And it sitting on its own 4 wheels. With any luck , I'll have it done tomorrow, maybe Wednesday I'll go on record, I was extremely skeptical when these kits first came out. But I REALLY like how easy they go together, Although getting the side glass in , is a bit tedious.
  9. I had it mis- spelled Since corrected it. And Thanks.
  10. The paint AND decals went so well. I've decided to just keep moving along on this one, while I wait for paint for the Superbird kit. Decals went on without issue, except they were a little long overall. So, I had to trim them slightly right at the door seam to make them fit this body Chassis is about done. Engine is ready and, in the chassis, ( accs will get attached once its glued in place for the final time) Tires and wheels are done Interior is about done Pretty much box stock with exception I swapped the auto trans version of the engine from the Plymouth kit to more accurately represent Bud Faubel's original car. ** I should note. The original car had the typical Gold color interior. The current car ( no idea how much , if any of it is the original) But it has a red interior, which is obviously incorrect.
  11. Looks like a 3rd generation hemi Must be some kind of aftermarket head conversion
  12. I can't justify spending $125 on that new of a kit. Not when the stock issue can be so easy to replicate it with some parts I probably have in the parts bins. Another one is the Butch Leal 1965 SS Belvedere. I see bin listing's all the time at $100 and more. I've bought 3 of them in past 3 months and haven't paid over $60 for any of them.
  13. I have messaged back and forth a few times with someone who used to work there. He confirmed there were in fact 2 cars. One was a purpose built race car - This car was both the SS AND the C/MP car . Just at different times. SS/E first, then C/MP This is the car that was sold in short order and became the Superchicken, then disappeared. The 2nd was basically a painted up street car used for customer / shop purposes. Once its duties were fullfilled. Im told this car was returned to Chrysler. Why? no one knows.
  14. More of a test it and see if they still work post than anything . I think these decals are at least 15 years old??? But its next in line So decided to find out if they were any good . And I can fortunately say,,,,So far, So good Im a little surprised these decals actually fit this body. ( so far ) I believe they were originally designed for the old Good Stuff resin body kits The paint layed down so nice, Its almost a shame to cover most of it up with decals Simple 3 light coats tamiya Bright red with 3 coats Tamiya clear Edit, I might push this one to the ft of the line While I wait for paint for the Superbird build
  15. Working sheet metal is a lost art I would love to know how many hours he has in the body behind him
  16. The fear is real in regard to model kits There have been several one and done runs , recent ones I can think of. Revell Sox Martin Cuda , Revell Dick Landy SS/E Dart Polar Lights Nelson Carter Superchief funnycar Are just 3 I can think of real quick. All 3 can bring decent money in the secondary market. Supe
  17. Thats cool, I can just see Michelle Pfeiffer ars sliding across the pass seat
  18. Looks good, Great color combination as well
  19. A completely 3d printed interior to convert the Johan 1969 Roadrunner to stock and do away with the kits supplied incorrect '70 interior https://www.ebay.com/itm/226816605260
  20. I posted above a link to Class Racer. Its a rather long thread on both the Jack Werst and SM wingcars built . Their timeline and initial purpose with some history posted by the people that were there And the comment that the 2 SM cars were one and the same car was posted by someone who worked for SM and on the very car In one photo the car is in the shop and its at that time is when the car is being transformed from SS/E to C/MP . New engine would be installed with much more compression. and at 1st the crossram was used. Ive not seen ANY under hood photos of the car to say with 100% certainty what it ran and when I've read for years there was 2 cars. But seems odd that if true you would think at least one of them survived. These cars became a collectable commodity rather quickly . So it stands to reason 'at least one' of them would have surfaced by now.
  21. Ill be picking up some this weekend Strip this one and start over
  22. Had a little time today so decided to spray the blue . Once this is dry . I'll tape it up and spray the stripes ( both hoods ) I've been told the cars roof was darker than the earlier years, and not as bright blue as the online photos depict it to be . Not sure if this is TOO dark. But I can live with it I guess. Both Tamiya blues. Light blue metallic on the left Mica blue on the right Let it sit a few days, then spray the red sides Also learned the car ran a Rat Roaster intake in SS/E with a basically stock but blueprinted hemi, But was converted to crossram, lots more compression and cam and the sixpack hood scoop was installed at that time for C/MP They were in fact both the same car, just at different points in time There was a 2nd Bird. But it was a painted up show car for the dealer tours and customer / client duties
