Nice work
-
Many many thanks. I got decals on it yesterday. Clear on it today , I had a slight snafu as the decals are getting old and Ronnie Soxs name fell off on both sides. So after a light mist coat. I layed them back on , then buried them in clear But I have to say. Im am over the moon happy with how the clear layed down. Amazing for Duplicolor 1K straight from the rattle can clear 2 maybe 3 real light mist coats, then 2 or 3 wet coats. Decals are a little thick . As I can see the edges of them. But,,I think I can live with it Now to let it sit a few days while I work on the rest of the build Also. Have rolling stock picked out. Redlines and Blue Streaks for the win

Best info I can come up with is the car that was actually a 1967 GTX was a 440 4spd car Which is the one I've decided to replicate I'll be using the RB engine parts from the Revell Dart kit to Replicating a 440 4 spd drivetrain. The Hemi is for the Grotheer car I completely missed the car did not have rocker mldgs or wheel lip mldgs. The paint on this one came out far too nice to risk sanding them off and touchup the paint. So they will just not get BMF on them. Tamiya White, Red for the sides and light metallic blue for the top and stripes ( those were fun to tape up )

Options for the S+M Revell 1967 GTX SS/B kit
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks, I have a Harts Parts bench seat on order. Issue it for me its not technically correct . Its just a slightly modified rear seat. And I'll use if if I must. But am looking for a better option closer to a factory pattern ,,,IF I can find one Info Im finding so far is S+M had a 1967 GTX, 440 4spd, And a 1967 Belvedere , hemi 4spd ( original RO23 car I assume ) which would have a very different seat upholstery pattern. This car had GTX lettering , but still had the upper body line moulding 1967 Plymouth HEMI Belvedere and 440 GTX – Sox & Martin -
Ok, Not sure where else to ask this. But I have a few of these kits Im wanting to get some kind of plan in place for I have decals for the Jack Werst Mr 5+50 car, SS/BA which would be hemi Auto, So was it column shift or some kind of aftermkt floor shifter ? As well as for the Stahl - Stiles Performance car which was SS/B so would be hemi 4spd But finding reference pics and / or information seems to be a bit tough I believe both cars were in Fact RO23 cars , so Both cars started out white, Were both cars black interior as were all RO23 cars ? Did either / or both cars have the back seat ? Best I can tell Both cars were a 1967 Belvedere, So that requires changing / modifying the rear trunk panel , If I so dare attempt to go down that rabbit hole. Plus Both cars were bench seat And is NOT simply adding material between the bucket seats Thinking maybe use the back seat from the Lindberg 64s , Or maybe the bench seat from the AMT 1968 Roadrunner What interior does the recent 1965 Belvedere have in it ? Anyone has any info or pics they care to share , post away please ps, and on a side note. It would appear the Grotheer car was in fact NOT an RO car 1967 Plymouth Belvedere II For Sale At Auction - Mecum Auctions

How do YOU clear coat?
gtx6970 replied to dreadpyrat's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Same here. I use Lacquer almost exclusively Primarily due to color options avail in rattle cans ( thank you Duplicolor touch up paints ) -
I clear coat all 99% of the builds I do. It helps to protect and keeps them in place down the road Ive used Testors enamels, Tamiya lacquers , as well as Upohl, and Duplicolor Urethane clears all sprayed right out of the can with no issues to date ( knocks on wood )

Interior is painted With the correct metallic burgandy red color as the 1/1 car ( I had it on the shelf for my actual car )
-
Been wanting to do this particular car for years. Sadly no one did the decals in the correct colors.......until. Chris Walsh released the decals in the correct colors a year or so ago. So... It's game on. Plan is stay close to box stock...kinda sorta. All the 67 gtx unique emblems and trim has been removed. I've added a mldg along the upper body line. Like the 1/1 . Will be 426 hemi. 4spd. And metallic red interior

I would love to have that Vette just for boxart

Thanks, I have a couple different versions of the ramp body , but Sadly no one makes the Cab for this truck in the configuration required. A few make the right era,,,,,,, but all are half ton trucks I recently bought a decal sheet for the stripes. And they all but disappear on the body they are so thin. So , unfortunately this one is going back in the box until better decals become avail or I get up the nerve to paint them on
-
BMF first. Then paint over top. Dip a fine tip Q tip in lacquer thinner to clean the paint off top face
-
Painted the body back approx 2017 Decided recently to push this one to the finish line Front bumper/grill. Rear bumper, Tail lights bezels and fender turn signal indicators. As well as Tires and wheels are from the Revell 1959 Retractable kit Paint is Krylon I believe. And is tough to get the color to show correctly in pictures . SO,,, I took a bunch. Color is supposed to be Geranium Or at least close enough for me . Even though it is most certainly a pinkish coral color in person Interior is mostly hand painted via free hand Feels good to get this one out of the box and in the case

NEW Tooling '71 Barracuda ?
gtx6970 replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would be all in for a 71 Cuda in 1.25th scale Be it a basic rehash using the MPC / AMT 72-74 Body. OR modify the Revell 70 kit as a starting point Keep in mind the Interior pattern for the standard seats is 1971 Barracuda only and looks nothing like any other years Both the original MPC issue and the Monogram kit copied the leather interior seat pattern -
I've been to the Madison Regatta outside of Cinn Oh a few times They are definitely something to watch and see in person Ive decided to get into using my new airbrush here soon And finding these colors in rattle cans is tough / and expensive This car is on my short list to do here soon. I have a really nice builder kit for it 1969 Dodge Hemi Coronet R/T Convertible For Sale At Auction - Mecum Auctions Can I use Tamiya primer for these paints. How about clear top coats ,

AMT - 1959 Galaxie convertible , A rebirth of sorts
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Bmf work is done. THAT was fun. Ok....not really Interesting how much difference the color looks in or out of sunlight The interior and the exterior of the body are the same exact color . Only difference. Body has a gloss clear on it and interior has a semi gloss clear In natural light up close It definitely has a pinkish cast to it.
