  1. This is only a guess on my part. But I think the frictions were another way for manufacturers to get more mileage out of tooling . I have been told by several higher end promo collectors/dealers and all have told me friction cars were sold in the secondary market ( not dealerships ) In MOST cases frictions differed from true dealer promos in color combinations exclusive to frictions, As an example. a true 1969 Plymouth GTX promotional will be all one color ,, ( blue with blue interior as an example ,,,, where as A friction chassis 1969 GTX will be blue exterior but will have either a white or sometimes grey interior ) I've never seen a friction chassis 1969 GTX where the exterior and interior were like colors .
  2. Thanks for all the leads fellas. I am leaning more towards a modern Coyote motor for this project. Although I havent completey ruled out a SOHC yet either. But ' IF ' I go that route,,,,,,It will be carberated / naturally asperted ( dont want anything poking thru the hood )
  3. Holy cow........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm usually not a customs fan persay. But WOW, I like this one A LOT .....VERY well done
  4. 1958 Bonneville annual kit - 1958 molded in the license plate areas - aka the bumpers 1968 Coronet annual kit - 1968 molded in the license plate areas - aka the bumpers
  5. As a general rule annuals will have the model year its supposed to represent is molded into the bumpers. Obviously , there are exceptions. As an example AMT re-issued some of these annuals after the original issue date,,. Called craftsman kits/versions. In most cases they are the same kit with maybe very very minor changes
  6. 5 packs of Bare Metal Foil, staright form BMF. With the winter projects I have in mind,,,, I will use most of it
  7. Looks like 97 rallye green. Just as an fyi. The valve covers are incorrect the for an A12 car.
  8. Me personally I wait 24 hours minimum before doing any sanding ,,,Then again I rarely get to the bench 2 days in a row,,so its usually MUCH longer then that
  9. Heres one that would be WAAAAAAAY up on my list. But I'm not going to hold my breath. So,,if anyone knows of a quality resin casting,,,,,,,,I'm all ears 1969 Plymouth Duster 1 show car
  10. Love it,,,,,,,,,Probaly my favorite version I've seen of this kit yet. I have a similar idea in mind for when I do one . And I like the idea of pushing the headlights back into the fenders
  11. I have an original issue AMT hardtop,I like it overall . Cant speak about the revell kit ( dont have one ) BUT, been looking for an original issue 58 Convertible to build in case anyone has one they wish to let go of
  12. I wonder if the red 250 GTO on the trailer is the one that was stolen out of the yard about 25+ years ago in Cincinnatti Ohio.(There were dozens of antique cars in the place ,,,BUT it wasnt in the best of areas if you catch my drift )
  13. I'm normally not a dragster fan, but I've been thinking I need to build one of these kits,,,,,,,this picture just convinced me I MUST build one WOW< I like it . A LOT
  14. I've quit trying to sell at swap meets. seems like most buyers ( especially the early birds ) just want them to flip anyway I'll have sealed kits marked at $20,,,everyone wants to buy them at less than $10. or builders at $5 and they offer $2 ,,,, no thanks . I'll donate them to some kid or something 1st Last time I set up to sell I had some little girl maybe 10 or so wanted a kit I had . When she reached for her money and all she had was $5 ( it was a ten dollar kit ) I gave her the kit ( on her promise she was going to build it ) and told her to spend her money on paint or glue . Grinning from ear to ear . and walked right down the isle and did just that .
  15. I'll use flat tounge depressers with the self sticking sand paper on it. both easily cut to any size or shape I need and they're cheap I like the small bladed retractable Xacto knife / pen for bare metal foil work , I think it works better going around edges and emblems than th elarger bladed versisons Like so ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/X-Acto-Retractable-Knife-with-Pocket-Clip-X3209-Xacto-/271969760476?hash=item3f52a934dc:g:AsMAAOSwu4BV34kQ ) Hobby Lobby carries them But,,,,,My most essential tool anymore is my lighted magnifirer
  16. Oh how I would like a fresh 61 Vette kit . Then I could do an accurate Big John Mazmanian car
  17. Dont hold me to this. But I think all the 65 Fury pace car convertibles had a medium blue top. ??????? Friend of mine sold the 1/1 car he had last year . But I have been looking for a builder kit to make a replica of it for a while,,,and havent found one yet within my budget . His had the blue and white bench seat interior, 383 with a 2 bbl and console auto
  18. I removed the decals on a 1971 Duster that had been on there for probably 20 years. I just soaked the body in solvaset and used my fingernail to pick the decals away . NO damage to the finish at all
  19. Same here, built the 55 kit and its a VERY nice kit. I think the only complaint I had is the windsheild just barely fills the opening from the inside . so be very aware of how or what you use to set the glass ps, i like the color you have on it
  20. A 1958 seems to be one tough cookie to come up with,,, reasonably. I looked for nearly a year before I got one in my budget. ( mine is a convertible ) I have an extra vert body if someone needs it,,,but its been pretty heavily modified . and I think its to far gone to build anything close to OE stock
  21. Just like the title states.,,,,,,,Whats the best source for either / both of the above engines ? I have a project in mind and I cant decide if I want to go new powertrain or stick with old but cool looking
  22. Seller has sold built kits for WAAAAAAAY more then that.
