Can this kit be built replica stock -
Looks amazing. But am curious, Why not just use the Johan Body with Moebius for everything else

Im going to stop in my local shop for more sizes of styrene strips My fear in trying to get much smaller strips is getting all 7 aligned straight across
-
This went much better than I expected for the upper body line trim. It's a .020 x .040 styrene strip glued along the very top edge of the body line. And a test on how to make the grill My tubing is 3/64" rod glued to a flat faced piece of styrene strip. Anyone know if they make a smaller diam rod ? I need to get 7 strip where I now have 5 A 1967 GTX has 4 head lights. A 1966 satellite has 2 with the smaller diam inner circle is the park lamp turn signal . Thus the need to remake the grill

In theory, that sure sounds good. Issue is the depth differences between the levels is only MAYBE 1/8inch on the 1/1 My thoughts were a very thin - flat piece of styrene with a decal overlay to achieve the best effect. I cant imagine trying to get multiple pieces of styrene that small in perfect alignment to make it look right. Possibily taking some small styrene and make a edge perimeter with a decal insert. Looking at the kit this morning. I think I can pull the tail lights off reasonably easy. ....Of course I say that now. I haven't actually delved into it yet. Just looking at possibilities . Unless there is someone who can 3d print the pieces. Again, I can provide any picture / measurement needed.

Is this a model or a promo
gtx6970 replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Promo, I used to have one of them that came from a guy whom used to work at the dealership he got it from many many years ago -
The one thing I will say. IMO the body line down the center of the car isnt as sharp as I feel it should be. So maybe you all in detail builders might look into some fine masking . sanding body line work to sharpen it

My hood was tweaked . Much worst than it is now. It spent some time in hot water to get it better But still not perfect. To avoid breaking it or making it worst I'll live with it as it is today

The "Illusion" by Rick Dore.......on the Bench 12/9/23

Thanks I found an article online where its all explained. -
A quick assessment to ck stance and make all wheels touch the surface. I tried the amt Goodyear polyglas tires. But they are much to tall for this one It's done for the weekend for me. I'll get back to it one-day next week.

WOW, Impressive. What scale is that

Afraid I cant. I have 3 or 4 of the duster kits. All earmarked for old prostock builds. The 340s on the other hand are a different story. I did get the body in its first coat of color today. But am out of clear. So its done for the day. Chassis I carefully taped up and rattle can sprayed the fenderwells in a Fo paw undercoating kinda sorta look. ( I dont have an airbrush so I have to do it the old fashion way ,,,,Tape) I have house projects tomorrow,,,and next day . So this will most likely be it for this model bench for a few days.

WOW. On the 1/1 is the body a full on custom hand built or based off of anything OE -
I had to go ck. But yes. Thats it. IMO the metallic is just a tad to much. But again, once cleared it will look REALLY nice in my case Edit, I have a can of Model Master Nassau blue here. Its close. But IMO the Tamiya is a better option
-
Im just using a Tamiya rattle can color. Compared to an original color chip I have. its close enough. I dont do contests so it doesnt have to be dead nuts perfect for my case. The only ones who will ever see it in person is me and my family.

Just an overall better representation and more accurate scale of the engine in the engine bay. As a general rule. Im more of an out of the box builder. But had started this engine for a MPC 1970 Challenger I have to replicate a car I used to own. So this engine has been in the file for several years. And I couldn't live with the underscale kits engine in this build. So I'll ad maybe some more detail like heater hoses and call it good
