  1. Thanks again guys!! Thanks!! The extra cost was to have the wheels painted the same color. The Standard model came with black wheels.
  2. Thanks guys!!! I also fell in love with the Lyon Blue. One curiosity tough: I never, ever saw a more difficult color to clean from the glass jar of the airbrush...And from under my finger nails...
  3. Thanks guys!!! Here is a picture of the twins:
  4. My first build of the year, is a double build. Back in December, my cousin Marcelo asked me to build a '40 Ford for him. He took a look at the three available colors, and chose Lyon Blue, with extra cost color matching wheels, and wide whitewall tires. I had the color mixed, and when I got it on hand, found it to be so handsome, I had to build one for myself. So, I built two cars, that save for the licence plates, are 100% alike... Kind of a cool experience. This one on the pictures is mine. My cousin's is just the same, so, I saw no purpose in picturing both. The kit was built almost out of the box, only with the addition of fender welting and the necessary modification on the front axle, by shaving 3mm out. That avoids the front tires to touch the inside of the front fenders, and makes the completed car to look more like a real Ford. 5. Fantastic work. The color really suits the car, and the exhaust exiting just before the rear tire, kind of gives up that's not grampa's Plymouth.
  6. Real nice looking Cougar. Always loved those cars. The blue on the engine looks a bit light tough.
  7. That's very interesting. I never saw a older Beetle without the deluxe bumpers, at least not a Brazilian made. Nor on the road, or on magazine ads, as I really only read old car magazines. Here they went from 6V to 12V in 1970. I know that because VW told us so in all ads of the year. They kept the old style headlights, and the dinamo even with 12V tough. My uncle had a '77 Fusca 1300L (Deluxe 1300cc Beetle) that he used on rainy days, and when he were going to somewhere with bad roads, and he didn't want to use the Maverick, that was his baby. That '77 Beetle still had a dinamo. Also had sealed beams, and the square bumpers. The dash had a plastic black cover, and the steering wheel was the same as on the VW Brasilia. Yes, that car had the four lug wheels. Helped my uncle to replace front wheel bearings on it. The car still had front drum brakes. In 1977. The hubcaps are the same as on your Bug. Here they are called "flying saucers". Also, our Beetles never had the "big" windows, yours '68 has. You do great job, and this Fusca turned out great. You even painted the fender felts. I usually look most posts, and if they had a "like" button I would use it, but I avoid posting comments like "Cool", or "Nice build". I prefer to comment when I have something interesting to say.
  8. I like the look of it with the satin black paint. Also the wood work on the bed looks great!! Back in 2016 I built one in gloss black. I reverted it back to stock tough. Did some kitbashing with a '55 cameo for the stock parts.
  9. I saw this one for the first time a couple of days ago. I felt that it was odd, and something was bugging me about it (the kit, not the build). I just found out!! Here, there was never a "round" bumper Beetle without the bumperettes and the chrome bars (a là Herbie). Also, the Beetle never had the sealed beam headlights with this bumper. That was making the car to look odd to me. The headlights on the kit only came after the "square" bumper. Since it's a German Bug, it's perfectly alright. It was the image of a bug in my mind that was conditioned by what we had here.
  10. Very nice save!! Great that you was able to save the original builder paint. I beat it was really hard to "allow" it to follow you home.
  11. Here too. The Alfas had radials since the late '60s (Pirelli Cinturatto), and the water cooled VWs since about 1973. The Galaxie changed to radials in 1976. The wheels were changed from 15X5 inches to 15X6 inches, and Good Year G-800 radials replaced the Firestones 7,75X15 bias ply. The Maverick kept the Wide Ovals or Polyglas bias up to 1979, when Ford discontinued the line. My mother's was a '75 GT V8, and she was able to get Wide Ovals up to 1986, when they vanished for good. Prior to that she had tried a set of Pirelli Cinturatos on the Maverick, and hated them. I remember they lasting two weeks on the car. The car really felt harsh, and uncomfortable. After that it was back to the Wide Ovals. When the last set of Wide Ovals was gone, my mom sold the Maverick. Back in 2001 I still was able to buy a set of Pirelli "Sempione" bias ply in 7,10X15, for my old Chevy Veraneio. Always hated driving on radials. My '82 Galaxie has radials, as they were the stock equipment tire for the car, but the '74 rides a billion times better on the Wide Ovals made by Coker than the '82 on modern Hankook white lines.
  12. One proof that those kits are aimed at old folks: Ask a guy or girl under 25 what a Polyglas or a Wide Oval is. For matter of fact, ask them what brand of tires they have in their car. The car is an appliance generation couldn't care less. I remember really "digging" the Wide Ovals on my mother's Maverick. and the set of Polyglas my uncle had in his Maverick. The Wide Ovals were always my preferred tire. Run a set on my '74 Galaxie, the real deal bias ply, not the radials, and have two spare sets in storage.
  13. Call it what you want. The kit itself is way cool. Have two built, and it's one of AMT's new tool best. Heeee Haaaw!!! The good Old General. Just BETTER!! by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr
  14. Really wanted to participate this year, but at least for me, a V8 is the only acceptable power source for an automobile. I'm out.
  15. Very nicely done!! Cool wheels and color. Also cool is the dual quad setup for the 312, with two Holley style carburetors sideways. A long time ago I did that in a '57 with a pair of Autolite 4100 carburetors.
  16. They all look very clean, and neatly built. If I had to choose one it would be the '53 Ford.
  17. Great color choice, it's for sure better than the red that almost every single one of those I see on cars shows appears to be. Also nice work on the interior, it looks very nice. The KGs I see all have wood grain on the dash. Knowing zero about VWs, and not caring enough for researching, I don't know if it was supposed to be there, but it looks better this way.
  18. If it was supposed to be a new car with shiny paint, then it's not good. If it was supposed to be an old weathered car, it's awesome, specially for a first try.
  19. Looks amazing. Great color choice and build quality.
  20. Remember them all. The Model 18 Ford is gorgeous, a great build. The Plymouth is also amazing.
  21. It looks so cool, I can hear the four banger running!!
  22. Looks awesome!!
  23. Very cool cars!! The Thunderbird windshield looks odd. I guess the frame and glass are glued upside down to the body.
  24. Love the '67 Galaxie. Very cool color. Not much into the lakes pipes, but the car looks amazing.
