I don't remember where, but I saw a resin body to convert the kit into a '42 Tudor while I was doing research for the build. I just spent two hours trying to find it again with no luck -

It's not about the kit itself. I was frustrated because I couldn't find any pictures of a built coupe online. I really wanted to see how it would look like when done. I found pictures of the convertible (about three different builds) but not of the coupe. So... I decided to post this thread, in hope people would post their pictures of built Testors Fords, both convertible and coupe, to serve as a reference to the ones that decide to actually build one. -

Never thought of car guys being specially good looking, but please give me a car girl every day -

Please post pics of builds you painted with any hobby-type gold*
Lovefordgalaxie replied to Monty's topic in Model Cars
I have a '57 Ford painted Inca Gold, but that is the Ford color named Inca Gold, that is in fact a tone of greenish yellow. Also the car was painted with automotive synthetic enamel, and not with modeling paint. More than one manufacturer had a color called Inca Gold, and it's a different color for each. I have used the Tamiya TS spray can gold as a base for Mica Red, and it's great for that, but I wouldn't paint a car with it as it's not very attractive. And i have a gold 1:1 car myself!! -
Looks great, I see no problems with it.

I'm starting this post just out of frustration. When I was building mine '48, I only found a couple built on google, and the pictures were not that good. So, if you have one built, please post some pictures. I refuse to believe there's only about three or four around!?? So, post 'em if you got 'em!!! This one is mine. Three months and about a few white hairs more after I started it I was able to call it good, or so so. 1948 Ford Super Deluxe Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1948 Ford Super Deluxe Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1948 Ford Super Deluxe Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1948 Ford Super Deluxe Coupe by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr -
Great looking model! Those cars are actually cute in person, and they are bigger than they look.
-
They both work good together. The '56 body is a little more accurate than the '55, or maybe is the roof that gives that impression. I always thought the roof, specially the "C" pillars on the '55 to be way off.

That is some seriously sweet paint!!

I like it a lot. What a beautiful paint, and nice engine detail. -
I couldn't agree more. I have no favoritism either. To prove that I'm on both forums, and use to post the same things on both. Of course sometimes I forget a thing or two, but that doesn't mean I like one magazine better than the other. Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't have a mean of comparation between the two. I never had a MCM on hand, they don't sell magazines here in Brasil. By other hand I can get "the other magazine" at the airport newsstand... Hey Harry, what about a free sample to a forum member overseas? (hint, hint)

Thanks again folks!! John, thanks for the link. Now pray Harry won't kill you for it

Yep, that's what it's all about. One has to have a preference, being that a car maker, or like you said, the style you find more attractive. For example, I like Ford cars, so the vast majority of my stash is... Composed of Ford cars!! I've being around them all my life, so for me it's easier to build Ford cars, as I know how to detail and paint them (like what colors to use, what was painted what color, and stuff like that) Also being around Chevrolets, but not as many. I build the ones I'm familiar with. Would have a hard time finding what was correct for a 1937 Chevrolet for example, as I only saw one in person once, and it was a @#$%@#&% Hot Rod... So you build more Chevys? Have you seen a doctor yet? -

Chrome trim ring? No, I didn't add any. The wheels are just black, and the cover too. -

This is mine. Built in 1991, it is my first spray painted model. Also my first foil work, and that's why it's gonna stay the way it is. 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr EDIT: The worse part is realizing it's not much different of the good builds... -

That looks like a pregnant Camaro. How on Earth can somebody say that is correct??? Please, give only incorrect model kits. -

If it's a Ford car, I'll build it. If it's a Chevrolet car, maybe I'll build it. If it's a Mopar, only if someone asks me to build it for them. Still lot's of Fords I want to build, have most in stash, and don't really have a problem choosing. I buy kits by the cars they depict, and not by how cool or not the kit itself is. -

I agree 100% with you. Never ever took a model to a show. I built them to have fun, not to please people with all that aftermarket detail, that by the way is side by side with unsanded glue lines, ejector pins, and mold lines. Some people add a lot of goodies in hope of building a highly detailed model and forget the very basics. Like I always forget sanding those ejector pins, and also like I hate aftermarket stuff, I like to open a kit box, use what's inside and have fun while doing it. Around here, when the so called modelers (and I say that because modeling is no longer a hobby to them, it's a second job, that has no pay, and serves to the purpose of receiving praise of similar guys) look at my builds, they say "Yes, it looks nice, but you could had done a lot more detailing" I say " I know, but I choose not to". The so called modelers only give me that superiority look and then move on. -

From the factory, you would have just the wheel, tire and hubcap hanging on the mount at the rear of the car. Anything else was installed on the car after it left the factory. It was much common to use a vinyl booth over the tire. On my build of the '32 I used the AMT part as it looks good and it's an accessory one could had installed just after purchasing the car. Also used the wheels and tires from the AMT 1934 Ford coupe, that are much more accurate in look than the tires AMT provided with the 1932 Victoria. Those are the AMT 15" Firestones, the very same they put on all 1950s and 1960s car kits, that look odd on a 1932 Ford. If you want a cool touch, use the spare out of the AMT '34 Ford too. It has a steel cover over the tire and exposed wheel that are a lot closer to a '32 equipment that the spare out of a '36 Ford.
