mustang1989 Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Now there's a model you don't see built all the time! Way cool Ron!
tubbs Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 looking great Ron, great build on a car you don't see too often.
am73grand Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 Here we are back again! The rear quarter windows in my 1:1 car were the full glass. I always wanted to add Chevy Laguna quarter windows to my car......so why not do it in scale. I started by drilling out the windows: Here's the Laguna windows from an old body I had kicking around: Cutting and splicing and here we are: I'm getting closer and closer to paint. Next will be adding some trim I sanded off and then the vinyl top trim. Thanks for looking!
fseva Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Got a lot more done on this today. First up is the nose. I filled the parking lights in the bumper and removed the molded in headlight bezels I'll use a set of headlights/bezels from a Johan Cutlass Here is a cool way to finish off those headlights... Thoroughly mix a tiny bit of white with your clear and apply. Allow to fully dry and cure. Should give the impression of a piece of clear glass over that metal.
Bob Ellis Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Those are the nicest Pontiac Rallye wheels that I have seen in 1/25.
disabled modeler Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 We need one of the model companies to make a kit of this....nice!
spencer1984 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Truly excellent work on this, you've done a great job pulling together all these different parts and making them look like they've always belonged together
TFchronos Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Amazing work and detail, it's looking very good!
DoctorLarry Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I just finished interior parts for the Grand Am. I'm working on dash and console for the LeMans/GTO now.

DoctorLarry Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Here's the latest: Resin Grand Am door panels to go with dash, console and seats: LeMans/GTO interior in the works:
am73grand Posted March 31, 2015 Author Posted March 31, 2015 Larry, Those door panels look GREAT! Can't wait to get them!
am73grand Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 I've decided to use the new door panels and dash/console in the '77 Can Am I'll be building. This build is really a lesson in kit bashing. I'm not so much concerned with 100% accuracy as I am with having a cool looking build when I'm done. I used the dash and console out of an old "Superfly" Grand Prix. The lower door panels are from a Revell Buick Grand National, The steering wheel and front seats are from an MPC Ventura. The pedals, column and dash top are from a Revell '72 Cutlass. The grab bar is from a Revell '66 GTO. Paint is Tamiya Light Blue I also got a lot done on the engine. I used parts from several more kits for a well optioned engine bay. The engine is from a Revell '68 Firebird. Valve covers are modified units from the Revell '55 Chevy Pro Sportsman kit, Distributor is from Morgan Automotive Design, Main fan belts are from the '66 GTO. I added the A/C compressor from the '72 Cutlass with some aluminum pulleys and wire for a belt. Seeing as how this is a hot rod, full length headers were used from the Firebird. I've still got to add the MSD box, oil filter, carb, air filter and hoses. All if which will be added after the chassis and body are mated for the last time.
DoctorLarry Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Looking good-I can't wait to see thebody in paint. Mine never got beyond primer! Maybe now that most of the parts are cast I can actually build the car I set out to create. I'm still doing door panels, seats and dash for the LeMans/GTO and I am going to do a 74/75 Grand Am and 77 4 door LeMans. I need to hurry-it is warming up outside and that means playing with the full size cars again.
am73grand Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 Painted gauges or decals? Larry, the gauges are painted. The flash brings out the detail.
charlie8575 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Excellent work, Ron. Hopefully, we'll see this at Classic Plastic. Charlie Larkin
