ismaelg Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Wow Jim! That looks great! I love everything but the hinges and the wiring details really stand out. About the dual pivot hinges: I'm curious about those. What? Why? How? (When and who) Thanks,
VictorSmalls Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 All I can say is wow. The exterior color along with interior flow together very well. The engine back and hinges look top notch. Really just an all around great piece or work.
Nick F40 Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 (edited) WOOOOOW She's beautiful! Edited February 20, 2008 by Nick F40
MonoPed Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Oh my, what a beatifully executed build of a beautiful subject!! Absolutely stunning!!
Randy Kern Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Absolutely beautiful, Jim! That Aston Martin color looks great on it, as the metallic spices it up a bit. The look without the 'guard rail' bumpers is a lot sleeker, too. Just the right amount of details, with the wind screens a nice touch. That shade of red interior even goes great with the green. A timeless classic, you really nailed the right look for it. Hey, bring it over to the NNL East, so I can get an up-close look at it .
Raul_Perez Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 What's left to say? That is truly a beautiful representation of scale modeling at its finest! The wiring work and all of the details on the chassis are magnificant!! The only thing missing is the flashlight under the seat. (Remember, at the end of the day, these things still had wiring by Lucas).
MrObsessive Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Outstanding as usual Jim!! Neat idea to use a dual pivot hinge for the hood where clearance would have been a problem when opening.
Simon Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Excellent, the finish and detail are outstanding. Are those headlights box stock? They are very convincing. I've always ignored this kit in the shops, but I'm tempted to have a go at one now!
Len Woodruff Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Beautiful job Jim! Got any pics on how you hinged the fuel tank lid?
Paul Payne Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Absolutely gorgeous- I built a similar one from the metal kit several years ago, and added a driving light mounted in the bumper hole on the driver's side.
JHDrew Posted February 21, 2008 Author Posted February 21, 2008 Thanks everyone for all the kind words. Looks like I will be doing "honey-do" projects for a few months so nothing off the bench for a while. Probably won't have anything to post again until the fall. Glad you all enjoyed the build. Oh, Simon the head lights are box stock. I botched the re-chrome job. Len, the fuel tank lid doesn't work it's just the style. Thanks again eveyone.
cruz Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Outstanding man, very clean and nicely painted!!!!
Peter Lombardo Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Great job as usual. I love the modifications and the color choices, green and red. The underhood detailing looks nice and tight. I have had this kit on order for weeks now from my local hobby shop. I know I could speed the process up going "internet order", but he's a good guy so I will wait. Anyway, your build is very inspirational...I have saved the pictures for later viewing when my kit arrives. Good Job.
Dave Van Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Great build...have that kit on the way....mine will be a 50's era racer...but not as detailed as well as yours. It was a decent kit back in its metal days...hope it still is.
robertw Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 An excellent job of representing a classic British sports car and what better color to do it in then a British Green. I'll have to keep my eyes open for one of these kits and will be pleased with myself if I can build it half as good as you have. Rob W
CEKPETHO BCE Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 WOW. That is outstanding. What kind of paint is that green color?
charlie8575 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 I'm glad this one got dredged back up. This is a very nice model. Charlie Larkin
TheCat Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 WOW, now that's a REALLY beautiful Jaguar you've built there. I love all the little details you've added to this model. CONGRATS on a excellent build.
