I've got plenty of the barracudas....but the vega if it's correct. I'll buy a a couple of it and the flying wedge.

The firetruck thing is plain ugly. ....so no thanks

Great to see that Vega being reissued! I'll definitely buy a couple of them when they're out. It's a shame that engine, interior and chassis are so simple that I'll have to find better parts from some other kit... Anyway I'm very interested in this.

I would love that USA-1 Vega, even though straight out of the box, it's nothing more than a shelf model. I have a couple of "Stock" Vegas to be built, and a "Grump's Toy tp be restored. I may scratchbuild a "semi-accurate" pro stock chassis for one of these. I wonder where I can get some information on the chassis plans during the early '70's cars, such as the Don Hardy chassis used back in the day. I've seen these cars on the track back in the day, and I would like to do a few as a change of pace, after I do the NASCAR racer I threatened to do.

Ron,

I, too, would like some info on what might be a good 1/25 kit to steal chassis and suspension parts from to help build a more accurate and detailed Vega Pro Stock; anybody have any suggestions?

I would have rather seen the Koo Koo Kar or gypey wagon instead of the flameout!

Buy a Flameout to prove they need to keep releasing the showrods.......John needs our support......without him...might not get any.

I might be interested in another Barracuda.......I have one but a newer release would be nice. Sigh...........I really wish that Vega could be turned into stock without going through a lot of hassle. I'd love to build one of those stone stock just as I saw them in the late '70s on the streets brand new. :(

Nothing else unfortunately interests me.............

Gypsy wagon" You're kidding ? Right ?

Yes, thanks for reminding us you hate showrods, I keep forgetting.

Some people like them, and if a kids sees one and starts building, rather than a 40 year old drag car he cares nothing about, guess that'd be awful.

Ooooh a Vega...dreamy. Waste of plastic (metal on the 1:1) to start with, Grumpy and Larson cars only salvation.

Considering how old the show rod kits are, it's probably only ~60 yr old 'kids' that are going to be building them... ;) These kits weren't around when I was a kid in the late 70s, but I would have likely had zero interest in them then.

AMT%20T378-225%20Flameout.JPGkoo_koo_big.jpg "Show Rods" ? I hardly think so. Aside from the front wheels / tires I don't even see any parts that would be usable in any other build. Don't even ask me why I wouldn't want to build anything other than one of these stellar kits.

We get it. You don't like these kits. If you want to debate it and dump multiple pictures of kits nobody else was discussing, do it in a different topic. You've got plenty of topics discussing your tastes in models all around the forum, and probably one discussing these same kits already, so please do it there, not here in the Reviews section where people are trying to discuss specific kits.

It has a molded in rear end, no tube chassis.

As in it still uses the promo style chassis?

I too am curious if Round2 located a missing insert or two for the body, or if they are backdating it themselves. Who's going to e-mail John G and ask? ^_^

Chassis looks like a chewed up stock floorpan from the street car. Tubless tubs, axle holes, interior mount tabs. Blew up the Larson pic for you, just click on it.

I don't like'em, but some people do

I assume they had two Vega body tools--stock and drag, since they were out at the same time...the stock Vega was issued through '77 then modified presumably into the stock Monza S, then they later did the 'Twister Vega' Pro Stock Monza S, which widened the stock body wheel wells and used the chassis/etc from the older Vega Pro Stock kits.

Ah, that would make sense.

Thanks, Lee.

I should be able to do at least a "shelf model" of a Grumpy Jenkins Vega out of that Vega, right? I'm assuming Slixx or somebody has decals.

are those front wheels and tires on those cartoon cars any good for a real car model? anyone have any pics of them on the tree or on a real buildup?

The Flameout's front wheels are American 12-spokes, so they should be perfect for use on a vintage '60s Altered, etc.
