Tom Geiger Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 That's a model built by Paul Hettick, who has a grand following of his work on eBay. He does a lot of builds from old 1950s curbsides and resin kits. His stuff always sells for big numbers!
Ben Posted August 6, 2015 Author Posted August 6, 2015 (edited) It is a very beautiful Build! I didn't expect it to go for that much though! Edited August 6, 2015 by Ben
mk11 Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Beautiful color combination and about as clean as you'll ever see one. Looks like he got the front park lights confused with the 67-69 style paintwise... 500 bucks ? nahhhhh mike
Art Anderson Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 As has been said virtually every time this sort of thing gets brought up: It's not you average modeler who is paying the likes of Paul Hettick that kind of money for a built and finished model. Rather, he has a following of model car enthusiasts with the ability to pay a premium price for a very well built model car or pickup, but lack either the time or the skills to achieve such on their own.Pretty simple.Art
Howard Cohen Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 I have seen Paul's work online for several years and it is quite common for his builds to go for more than double this sale.He builds unusual or rare subject matter, has exquisite finishes, excellent details and never seems to build the same model twice, thereby insuring a solid (and apparently wealthy) following. There have been a few others in the past who have done similar types of builds for similar money but Paul seems to be the only one still building. Any one of his builds would command a prime space in a museum.
slusher Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Beautiful model. If he can get the money for his build thats great...
Jantrix Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 It is an impressive model and likely well deserving of a good price. But before any of you start seeing dollar signs in your stash shelves, remember he'd have to knock this build out in less than 40 hours to make a decent wage for his time.
uncle potts Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 And I squirmed paying $39 for one, unbuilt of course.
mk11 Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 ...Pretty simple.I understand that; my comment simply reflected soley my own valuing. The man has done some fantastic work and deserves what the market will pay. mike

Lunajammer Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 I think if many of us (if not most of us) invested that kind of time and care into quality work like that, we'd be also be too personally invested in it to let it go for anything less than that kind of money, if at all.
Maindrian Pace Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Paul Hettick is a rare builder. He makes beautiful models, and then sells them. There are several builders here that have those abilities and can build like that, but would never dream of selling a car that nice and with that much work into it. And if they did, it would still take years to build that kind of buying audience.
dartman Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 This is a nicely built kit for sure but no engine pic's? Or is it a curb side with lots of chassis detail?
Roadrunner Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 This is a nicely built kit for sure but no engine pic's? Or is it a curb side with lots of chassis detail?I had the same thought,... $500+ for basically an OOB $25 model? Insane.
Ben Posted August 6, 2015 Author Posted August 6, 2015 The price is a bit shocking but hey if you have the money! I just wanted to show a very well-built version of the Moebius Ford. I wish I could've bought it myself!
Daddyfink Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 The man can build! His stuff is truly Pro Built, not unlike some other "Pro Built" nightmares out there on the bay.
Bob Ellis Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Some people forget, it isn't just a built model car, it's a model car built by him.
