Here is Revells Futura, another from the archives, this one built from the 1990s re-issue. I always wanted an original of this but they were so hard to find, even on the dreaded 'Bay'. After the SSPs came out lots of originals were appearing and I got one very reasonable.

I just love this model but the 1-1 colours did not suit my display cabinet at the time so painted it again in rattle can acrylic.

Left out the figures, used the kit tyres and Bare Metalled most of the chrome. The model aircraft stand was a moment of mad inspiration, It sort of makes the model look like it is a jet taking off.

Not the greatest pic but the only one I have. Hope you Like :), John

Looks like a nice clean build. Love the airplane-style stand too. Your color looks better on this than what it's "supposed" to be...so much so that I may have to build one of my own and copy your color.B)

Nice one John .  Where in the UK are you ?

Doobie, I'm in Chelmsford, Essex.

I used to take this to the hot rod events model shows and pose it next to a Batmobile conversion I have. That is still packed away after years and when I last looked was still in one piece. When I do eventually get it out I will post some pics.

The colour is just something I picked out as a near match to a Ford calendar featuring the Futura that I have someplace. I cannot remember the exact colour sorry. May turn out too be GM:P

The original intention was to metalise the stand with that aluminium powder. Something else I never got around to.

I shall try to take a few more pics, probably to compare it with my Bat Wagon sometime in the future.

Thanks all, J.

Despite the talk that berate the Revell multi-piece kit bodies, those kits are actually very good.

I have built the 1959 Skyliner, 1960 Corvette, 1957 Ranchero and 1957 Country Squire. All the pieces fit perfectly.

The 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham is a little bit of an engineering problem. You have to cut the frame away from the lower sides of the body. It was not designed as well.

That kit is a challenge to build but with time and patience a very nice result can be achieved as you have clearly done. I did one a few years ago but did it up as the red car in the movie, It Started With a Kiss and I still have one more of these kits stashed away which I'll use to build the show car Futura in its Blue Frost colour scheme. My only complaint is that I wish they'd have done it in 1/25 scale but I realize the kit came from the era of the box scale kits. It would be nice to wish for one in standard scale but that is not likely to happen but at least we can build this show car which is more that we can say for most of the concept cars. Whether its the original colour or not I like how it looks in this light metallic blue. Well done.

I agree... just go away from directions and assemble the body first.

As promised, some more pics.

This was built from the first of the SSP series.

Some more coming soon with a conversion to the Batmobile

I think I followed your posts on the red one. Saw the film many years ago, probably 45 plus as I remember seeing Batman on TV then 'Kiss' one Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Somehow even as a kid I knew it was the same car.

The DVD is not available over here and it has not popped up on the TV to my knowledge.

I may have another go at it if a kit comes along cheap enough. I bought a lot of these when Tom Carter was selling them for around $5, guess it was not that popular. and I think I may even have an original in my stash.

Nice, I like the color.  Multi-piece bodies are sometimes more accurate in that they don't have to deal with popping out of the molds.

Nice Work!

I just finished mine in "movie red" recently. I enjoyed the kit so much I bought another one. It's just a cool model to look at!
