FordRodnKustom Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Where all the current shows go wrong (IMHO) they make to show about the people. Me, I would much rather have a show where the cars are the focus. Find a car, tell the history or the significance of the car then show the restoration/build process in sufficient detail. A pipe dream - I know.Exactly. I stopped watching most of the "car" shows because of that. I think "Chasing Classic Cars" has a good formula, and I still watch that.
Daddyfink Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 I prefer Bitchin Rides and Vegas Rat Rods. The boys at Welderup do some amazing things with not so ordinary parts. These three have to be some of the worst shows i have ever seen. Fake reality show. Bitchn Rides gets sort of a pass, maybe replace it with overhauin for crappiest show. But they are flat out stupid. But that whole deadline, rat rods are cool thing is getting super old.

A pipe dream - I know.I agree .This is what they should be but the producers are not car guys they are drama guys. The reason I like Leno's Garage on Youtube it is about the cars, I think that is the reason why I think he wears the same clothes every show. If Hot Wheels wanted that car and they paid for it that is what you do for the customer.
Harry Joy Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Graveyard Cars is the one that drives me the most nuts. He does authentic restorations, but the "zaniness" and scripting are horrible distractions. Fantomworks, I want to like but it rubs me wrong most episodes. The ones I like best are Bitchin' Rides and Counting Cars. Counting Cars is the one that got me back watching these things. Yes, it's goofy, but enjoying these shows is something where you have to put your critical thinking on pause - if the main players are people I enjoy watching. The Foose show I hated (it's done with now). Primarily for the reason in the OP - Foose tears down really cool vintage cars to turn them into modern cars. Gas Monkey doesn't usually do that.
Brizio Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Sometime I watch this show, lost interest after see how repetitive and fake it is, like other reality tv... Like the Ferrari F40 story, that they bought for 300 plus $, when in reality the producer bought it for 80k$ and made the story out of it... Or the two rare Pontiac "barn find"... I watch the HotWheels episode because there was HotWeels involved. Other than that not very impressed with the result, I was hoping something more crazy, or wild. I doubt that the car they used was a matching numbers, and also I think the producer of Fast N Loud contacted HotWheels for make a real car, and HotWheels pay for it, and soon they will make a toy out of it and use the car a promotion thanks also for the TV show ads... I don't think HotWheels needed Gas Monkey for make a real car that resemble a toy, they can do them a HotWheels. And what about the fake things "don't go inside that door"... And they go in...
dartman Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 (edited) I quite watching GMG when they put a small block chevy in a freeking dodge truck.I'm like realy....wth... Edited December 12, 2015 by dartman .
Harry P. Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 That is a terrible thing to do to a beautiful car...

cobraman Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 I like cars so I record all the car shows I can. I just FF through the BS parts.
ChrisBcritter Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Fast forward? You bet. Watching Barrett-Jackson would be unthinkable without it!
Craig Irwin Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 That is a terrible thing to do to a beautiful car... Thank you for a voice of reason in todays world.

Yea I watch that show on occasion. They do give you some history. They did an episode on finding and restoring one of Marty Robbins' old modifieds, 95% of the show was talking about Robbins.Wheeler Dealers has the best formula to me but they only freshen the cars up a bit and don't do full restorations. kenb Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 The only car show I really watch is "chasing classic cars" with Wyne Carini. I dont see any BS, they never talk about money. They might say that they agreed on a price and that's about it. I might breeze through the other shows, but its kinda rare. Some of those shows could be really good if they weren't scripted so much. That bitchin rides show (which is a premier custom shop) was fairly good when it first came out, then it started getting goofy with that shop manager. As far as using a numbers matching car for that custom build, so what. It's their money. A friend of mine who is a true corvette nut and owner said they made about 30,000 corvettes in 68. Ken

KenA quick check on '68 production shows about 3000 L71 (435HP 427) corvettes. There were a total of 708 Tuxedo Black '68s. I would guess they were only a few hundred black 427s produced. Even fewer survived and fewer still remained unmolested. You can't reproduce originality. Edited December 13, 2015 by afx
Joe Handley Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Don't see too much of an issue if there were that many made then. It's not like the 440 Six Pack, 4 Speed, Super Track Pack '70 Charger my folks had, it may have been 1 of less than 50 produced.
carrucha Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 I am the borderline of whether I am going to continue to watch "Fast n' Loud". It's gotten worse. My favorite automotive show is Fantom Works. The work on the cars is the main focus. Last month I was vacationing in Mexico and was flipping through the channels and found the Discovery Channel. In Mexico, "Fast n' Loud" is called the "Mechanical Duo" which is funny because Richard does not work on the cars.
Joe Handley Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 I tend to not watch Fast and Loud (so far as builds are concerned, I prefer Counting Cars), Rich just seems to be an arrogant p.......
Maindrian Pace Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 I like cars so I record all the car shows I can. I just FF through the BS parts. I tried that with Counting Cars and there was like 5 minutes left.
dartman Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Was that the same one they put a Crown Vic front suspension on?Yeah,I think it was.....
dartman Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Most (not all) of the shows are the same.Buy a car to repair and flip, needs more work than they thought, got too have it done in two days or some crazy deadline. Then thy have all sorts of drama from the employees. All I watch are the shows on Spike TV Sunday mornings.Wrenching on cars and no drama.
bamadon Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 How about Chop Cut and Rebuild. Follows two builds through the process without a lot of drama.
