Well..I guess for me I'm going to see what happens out of this.Iem not a big rims dude.and stereos are hard to see in 24th and 25th scales.but maybe back when Barris,Starbird,Watson and Roth and many others back in the time..builders may have thought what we are now.I was never a big fan of all the custom parts that AMT put in the kits back then...but AMT aloud us to build stock as well.so I'm going to see what comes of this..Chris

Look... I understand the apprehension to this brand due to their clientele, some builds, and general brand image.  However, they are a major player in the automotive aftermarket industry... If you have seen their presence at SEMA its all about education, they have stations set up so you can work with their employees to airbrush, upholster, fit body-kits, check tire fitment...

Take that attitude, mix it with desirable mainstream "celebrity" vehicles for the younger crowd, add in some plastic... and I think revell could be onto something pretty decent to draw a younger demographic.    Sadly, 13-18 year olds dont know who barris, watson, windfield or roth are anymore... they know kardasian, beiber, drake and 50cent... and these guys make their cars...

At the heart of it all its just nice to see a model company partnering with true car guys and company's again...

The model companies have to do what they have to do to in order to survive. They need money to produce kits to sell in order to make money to put out kits. It's the whole circle of corporate life. While I would love to see them be able to partner with GM, Ford, or Chrysler and release a whole string of new models every year, that doesn't seem likely at the moment. Let's face it, the model kit target market is aging and a younger group of builders doesn't seem to be knocking down the door to get in. Kit manufacturers are becoming, in effect, a niche market. One that I really love, but there you are..... They have to break out of that. Revell is trying a different direction to see what happens.  We need to support them by buying kits and also support their efforts to widen the market. Just my humble opinion.

Ten or so years ago, one of the die-cast companies made a series of cheesy Walmart/Jesse James customs to tie in with the Monster Garage fad. Most of them were pretty bad, but at least with a little kit bashing, I got a 1/25th 1957 Chevy wagon out of it. Just wish I had bought a few more now!

A bit more variety would not hurt, every body usually complains about the same old stuff

being rehashed, and they get a bit boring after the 5th version.

Nice conversion. I still have one of those in the box somewhere in the stash. IIRC it has a fairly good inline 6 in it?

Jeeez.

What's the problem here?
First off, it's not 1962 anymore. Styles change. Customs have ALWAYS pretty much sucked in my view anyway.

Second, SO WHAT? Revell isn't in business to make ME happy, of course they will do more contemporary stuff.

Third, don't like it, don't buy it, do like it, buy it.

SIMPLE EH?

Eric you sure are spot on.

Back in the 60's they choose to get the then current big names and sold millions of kits. They want to sell a few kits now so they are trying what worked then hoping it will work again.

I would have to say the older guys that liked restored older cars did not think much of those guys in the 60's.

I try with what i can to help get my nieces boys to build, I tell them it is their car , their style . I may grit my teeth but at least they will try to build something.

  Right on!!

The same attitudes exist in the full scale world.

Maybe car enthusiasts are just grouches?

I love that HHR chopped wagon. Of course it appeals to me because I own an HHR Panel. That pic will be my background pic for awhile. I find the Charger two door awesome too. Could it be this old 61 year old is diggin' WWCs product? Don't know, but I sure will watch and see if anything cool comes out of this. Hey Revell, I'd like an HHR kit....(yeah , like that'll happen....LOL)

It does indeed have a good 6 cylinder in it. I used some leftover hubcaps from the Black Widow 57 Chevy.

Revell has to branch out some and might snag some younger builders. Most of us have plenty in the closet and ideas to keep us going. Something cool may grab our attention..

Yep, this is no different to when they got in Barris and Daniels to lend their names to kits. If Foose and Friedhamburger appeals to kids, who are we to complain if it allows the industry to survive?

Thanks for being the voice of reason. Some seem to go off when a product is not precisely aimed at them.

oh, and i should add my use of West Coast Customs: WCC built Expendables F100 and Paris Hilton's Barbie Bentley.
