HI guys, I'm changing my build for this year, still going to build a rally car. This is the Nitto 1/24 Lancia Stratos, it's the same kit as the italeri. The kit is a curbside and was supposed to be motorized the body is a 2 piece, just taped together for now. I will add an engine, running gear and suspension. I'm think of using a 1uz tbi Lexus engine from clearly scale

Might be the most beautiful car in the race too!

And will probably have the biggest power to weight ratio as well. Should be pretty cool and almost bullet proof with a lexus motor.

With a myriad of other projects going on, what's another?

1996 Caprice as a starter. This was how I got it. Most likely, I'll change it to 4WD, but it might just be 2WD with sand paddles in the rear.

As you can see, I started the sloppy openings on the rear wheels. I think I'll do big, ugly JC Whitney d-bag truck plastic arch extensions.

Roster updated, nice entries folks, here's hoping we get to see them all at the line in December.

I'll be adding mine to the list towards the end of this month.

I have 4 builds on the bench that are stalled... Might have to pull the bronco out. I robbed some wheels/tires from the snap tite jeep rubicon... because they're 5 lug. But have the awesome tires. Although I'm starting overtime this week... I won't have any weeknights for probably 6 months. And my weekends will be jam packed with things I can't do during the week... Here goes another unfinished Cannonball.... lol

A lot of amazing builds going on here ... it's going to take some time for the Aussie dust to clear on this run!

I got anxious last night and started on the Bronco finally.

I am using the snap tite jeep wheels and tires which look phenomenal on just about anything!

Started by trying to guess the height in which I wanted the thing to sit... so since I wanted to use the stock suspension/axles... I needed to modify the I beam setup.. which was a pain because the plastic in this kit is EXTREMELY brittle for some reason... no give at all. So, that being said I snapped quite a few parts last night. Got em all glued back together though thanks to zap a gap.

It sits a little tweaked because I don't have springs in place yet, and the frame is a little warped right out of the box.

After the front got close to where I wanted it I decided to make some shackles for the back of the leaf springs.. that was fairly easy.

So this should be final stance provided everything else goes well

I like it. Which Bronco kit is that? Been wanting one for a long time. And yes, the wheels from the Rubicons look great, I'm using the same ones on my Raptor. Looking forward to more.

I had a feeling the Rubicon's tires were going to be very popular this year. Perfect tires for this theme.

Looks good Jesse.

I'm still in...still gathering parts and just brainstorming over how I wanna imagine this build in my head.

I think I'm gonna aim for some type of high power Forced Inducted modern V8 setup and try to incorporate as many modernized features as I can think of, while keeping the 60's appearance.

Update K-5 Blazer - Entry #18

G'Day Fellow AussiBallers!

Have returned to the main workbench safely after the flight from PHX with the Blazer intact. Packed the entry in a ziplock bag with a bit of air blown in, creating a bubble, and had it as part of an eight kit carry on bag. No problems going thru security.

Began a search to replace the kit's problematic wheel/tire combo and discovered that the Rubicon tires to be bang on, thanks everyone! The interior is in the process of being painted and detailed and the body on its way to be painted Tamiya's Camel Yellow. Chassis still requires details (shocks, plumbing, paint washes) and engine work. The roof rack design is coming around, being built around the Rubicon light bar. The Roo Bar is going to receive a mesh grid and the lights need to be built up in the rear and wiring added, plus the winch assembly. Also going to dechrome the fuel tanks, grill and engine parts and refinish with Alclad. Getting this current list completed will begin to get this Blazer on the road!

While in Arizona I had a great time at the Desert Scale Classic, entering the Blazer in the WIP display. Thanks to the host clubs for putting on a stellar event!

Cheers Misha

Added a few more touches to the roll cage on the Bronco last night. Got a 2nd jeep snap kit as well for some more wheels/tires. Can't have too many spares!

I think the roll cage is done now. Should be more than sufficient w/o going for overkill.. and it makes it look very streetable. I'll be adding some bumpers front and rear along w/ rock sliders/step bars soon.

I also added a spare tire mount to the back of the cage. And it's great because it fits with the cap on! Just in case the weather gets too harsh down under!

Might switch out the seats... not sure.

There are some gorgeous setups and really nice work being done guys. I need to step up and get on my chassis work. I'm such an engine-based guy, that's all I've been working on :D

Jesse,

Loving the Bronco, probably one of my fav Ford trucks of all time, Definitely swap out the sets for some racing seats with some 4-6 point harness', not sure I'd want to be bouncing around the Outback with a lap belt to hold me down. Also, leave off the cap, love seeing the roll cage and tire exposed from the back. Looking forward to more.

Still here.
Done nothing.

Some interesting work has been going on though.

Same here. Guys, I have too much other stuff that has my bench packed and I'm not overly inspired by my Cannonballer design. Like as not I'll not be competing this year.

Awwwwwwwwwwwww.  Come on Rob.

Plenty of time left.  Can the plan and start again maybe?
However, in the end it's meant to be fun so don't force it.

Who knows though, maybe by August you'll have cleared some stuff and will want back in.

Perhaps, but I'll need a completely new idea. There's a swap meet next month. I'll see what I can come up with.

Nice choice Miles, but realize that paddlers are not street legal. At least no where I've ever lived.

Just checking in for April, as it looks like I won't be updating my build. I think I've figured out how to get the plumbing for the second turbo to fit but I've got to finish my current build first.

Lots of nice work posted.
