Chuck Most Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I finished this model back in November of 2010, but since hearing of the passing of David Bowie earlier today, I wanted to blow the dust off of it and show it again. It's name, Space Oddity, is obviously borrowed from Bowie's 1969 hit. It has a heavily modified '78 Dodge truck cab, but the remainder of the model is basically cast-offs from various glue bombs and other projects, along with a few scratchbuilt components. The idea is a kind of sci-fi rat rod. About all I remember from the build is dusting the forward portions of the model in thinned flat black paint, to give it a charred look, as if it had fallen through the Earth's atmosphere, or something like that. Who knows? Maybe it brought back the presumed-to-be-dead Major Tom? I also remember having a blast building it, and I still love seeing it on the shelf, even though if I had built it today, it would likely be an entirely different animal.
GTJUNIOR Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Looks mean. The perfect vehicle for Major Tom. I suspect David Bowie would have approved. May he rest in peace.
wayne swayze Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Very cool ! I like your choice of name for it.
