bobthehobbyguy Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 If you came into a large sum of money and could easily afford to have a model kit designed. What would it be?
mikemodeler Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I would have a series of 67-72 GM trucks done- pickup, Blazer and Suburban in all variations that would replace the old dated AMT kits. Would make me happy and no doubt be a good seller for the model company.
Dragline Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 A modern Funny Car or Top Fueler in 1/16 scale with high parts count.
Dave Van Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I'd go more simple........I'd tool a 77-78 Thunderbird kit done in the style of Revell's 77 Monte Carlo. Curbside model with a few options in the tool to allow issue of a number of versions. Options in the tooling to allow a base model 77 to a top end car with T Tops. This would sell to replica stock, low rider, custom and NASCAR builders. I'd not loose money on it.
cobraman Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I will say what I always say............ a large scale Daytona Cobra.
Agent G Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 It's a toss up between several iconic cop cars. '94-'96 Chevrolet Caprice. '80-'90 as well'82-'89 Dodge Diplomat'65-'70 Dodge Monaco, '74 for sure.any '80-' 91 Ford LTD, Crown Vic variant.Narrowing it down, the '69 Monaco.G
JTalmage Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I realize some of these kits have been released before by one manufacturer or another, but I'd like a full detail kit similar to how the Revell 68-69 Chargers were. I like those kits.'77 Mustang II (maybe with added Cobra II parts, and if we're feeling frisky, Monroe Handler stuff too)'65 Ford Fairlane 500 Sports Coupe'71-'73 Mustang Fastback'04 Ford Ranger FX4 Level II (I think we should get a new ranger model... they're only like the best small truck ever!)'93 Lincoln Mark VIII (with optional parts to transform it into a '96 LSC... trim/headlights/wheels/exhaust/seats)
robertw Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I'll go with one that will never be done by the American model companies. In the early '90's Larry Shinoda did a redesign of the C4 Corvette. A limited number of body kits were produced to convert your 1 to1 Vette into this car. I photographed one of these cars and briefly met Larry at a South Dakota Corvette show in 1991 and have a large autographed poster of one of these cars on my home office wall so my choice would be a new full detail Revell kit of the Shinoda-Williams Corvette.
jasoncardenas21 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 A VW Bay Window Bus. All of the other VW's are accounted for except for this bus. I'd love to do a replica of my real one.
Merkur XR4Ti Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 1970-71 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler. Given that we already have a Torino, getting this one tooled up wouldn't even cost all that much in all likelihood.2004-2007 Jaguar XJR.

I would do 2x4, 4x4, short bed, long bedand maybe even a club cab and dually. I would include lots of accessories for the 4x4 kits too.
jeffs396 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 A proper Jeep CJ kit. Wouldn't play around with only one variance, say a CJ-5...Kit would include frames, bodies, drivetrains to model ALL versions, ALL years. CJ-5, -6, -7, -8, and -10. Would be a $80-100 kit, but look at all the extra parts you'd have!!!
Draggon Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 (edited) One of Jeff Allisons designs, or maybe Weesner. Edited January 13, 2016 by Draggon

iamsuperdan Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Easy to think of some, not so easy to narrow it down. 2010+ Ram 1500/3500/35002010+ Ram 5500 chassis cabMkIV or newer Volkswagen Jetta2009+ Chev/GM pickup - Colorado/Canyon or Sierra/SilveradoVolvo - anythingVolkswagen - anything not a Golf or GTIJeep JK Wrangler
LDO Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 (edited) In the other thread, I said 1/8 scale '71 Barracuda and 1/8 scale series of Duesenbergs. After thinking about, I wonder the idea would be a waste of time. I'd love to see the kits, and I plan to be a billionaire (before taxes) later tonight, but I wonder if any hobby ships would order full detail Barracudas and Duesenbergs with an MSRP of $300 or more. There's now a 1/32 B-17 on the market that costs 4-5 times that of a 1/48 kit. It's not a huge seller. It's kind of pointless to bankroll Monogram's newest release if no one orders it. I guarantee all these subjects that people claim to be a license to print money have been considered and rejected by model companies. No offense to cop car/muscle car fans. I doubt my ideas ever even made it to a design meeting. Edited January 13, 2016 by LDO
Bernard Kron Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 All of these in styrene with high parts count, of course. Most important, because it would make $$$$$$ and I'd want a cut of it:Full detail Proper '32 Ford 3 in 1 with flattie, SBC, fenders, 50's/60's style suspension etc. - Essentially shrink-ray the Big Deuce kit.
