khier Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 .... is the Lincoln. I can hardly find anything in plastic except AMT '65, Monogram '41, and Lindberg '48. Is there anything else available for a normal price?
Howard Cohen Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 There were annuals made by AMT from about 1958 to about 1969 as 3in1 kits. Revell did a 32nd scale 56 Continental as well. The only other Lincolns I have seen are diecast, marked 24th but closer to 28th.
Atmobil Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Not many Volvo passenger cars as kits either. The ones I can think of is Italeri/Testors 760, Tamiya 850 Sedan and Wagon and Palmer P1800.
gtx6970 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) Depends on what you consider ' Normal'AMT produced the Lincoln annuals from 1959 up thru at least 1965 ( maybe later years ) . The early annuals can be had for decent money.I have two 1960 convertibles and I dont think I paid more then $65 for either one of them . Edited January 21, 2016 by gtx6970
Deathgoblin Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I've got a 1928 Lincoln. Yeah, they're rare anymore.
StevenGuthmiller Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) Buick may be right up there too!I can only think of 3 kits off hand.'62 '66 & '70.AMT did the annuals for Buick as well, so if you're willing to spend a few bucks, '58-'66 is an option for them as well.& then there's Mercury & for that matter Chrysler. Not a lot of either of those.I only have 4 Lincolns.'59, '60, '61 & '65. The '69 Wildcat was reissued a couple years ago and is still commonly available. So was the '69 Riviera. Edited January 21, 2016 by Snake45
Howard Cohen Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 There were many Buick model kits from 59 to 70, full size and Skylarks and Rivieras. Then there was the GN kits.
Vince Nemanic Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 There were MANY manufactures that never had model kits made. Try to find a Nash or Oakland, LaSalle, Jordan, Monteverdi, etc.
ranma Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Nash,Studebaker, Desoto, Auburn, Edsel, Very few Oldsmobiles as well.
Atmobil Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 And what about a Tatra kit, maybe there is some truck available in smaller scales but I have never seen a kit of a passenger car.An other brand that I can think of is Saab, only thing I have seen is Airtrax resin.
Deathgoblin Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) Hupmobile? Edited January 21, 2016 by Deathgoblin
lysleder Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Spyker, Bristol, SEAT, Gurgel.. We could make a long list of these.
Harry P. Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Spyker, Bristol, SEAT, Gurgel.. We could make a long list of these. Probably hundreds when you consider all the defunct US manufacturers from the teens-twenties-thirties. I don't think we're going to see a kit of a Moon or a Kissel or a Jordan Playboy any time soon...
Harry P. Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Shouldn't we have a kit of a Chrysler Airflow by now?
StevenGuthmiller Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 The '65 Riviera kit is still around. The '69 Wildcat was reissued a couple years ago and is still commonly available. So was the '69 Riviera. You're right.I forgot about the Rivs & the '69 Wildcat. The only ones that came to mind right away were the '62 Electra, the '66 Wildcat & the '70 GSX.You'll have to forgive me, my mind works in the way of full sized cars.I always seem to forget about intermediates & compacts.Olds was another one that came to mind, but then I remembered all of the Cutlass's.If you think in terms of full sized Oldsmobiles, Johan did 4 door kits from '59 to '63, (with the 2 door in '60) & then AMT did the '65. Then of course, there were the Johan Toronados. I guess they would be classified as full sized? That's all I can think of at the moment, outside of the earlier promos. Not a single one in current production. Steve
disabled modeler Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Snake...are you referring to the AMT 70 Buick Wildcat kit instead of a 69..? One rare kit that has never been re-issued and wont is the Johan 71//72 Toronado kit. Bummer too my first 1 to 1 car was a 72.
blunc Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Hubley and Premier produced Nash Metropolitan kits.
Chuck Kourouklis Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) On Buicks - there were a few kits after the sixties, gents. Monogram Grand National/GNX anybody? AMT new-tool '66 Riviera ring any bells? Surprised the GS-X wasn't one of the first mentioned. In addition to the '60s survivor tooling, btw. Edited January 22, 2016 by Chuck Kourouklis

I didn't pay that much attention to it--I still have an unbuilt original '69 in the stash and assumed that's what it was.

When he mentioned the years '66 and '60, I assumed he was including the '66 Riv and Monogram '70 GSX in that summary. But I didn't think of the GNX. Opel was sold by Buick (at least in my town it was), so does the Opel GT count as a Buick?
