Lovefordgalaxie Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Hi Guys. Finished my first car of 2016. It's a AMT 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria. The kit fought me quite a bit, as the body was full of sink marks, being the most noticeable ones on the fins, near the taillights, and around the doors. Once that was fixed, it went together more or less without issue. My chrome parts were a bit to the yellow side, but since I just hate using paint to simulate bright metal, I just left them as they were. The body was painted with automotive synthetic enamel to emulate Ford's Raven Black. The foil is all home made with aluminum foil, and most of the detailing was done with Testors acrylics. The kit has some deviations from 100% stock, but that is only noticed if you are really into Fords. Fixing those issues is not very hard, but to tell you guys the truth, I'm into building those things for fun, and if it starts to become a burden there is no fun anymore, so I built it box stock, without doing any correction or improvement, just painting the parts AMT provides and putting them together. yep, I'm lazy. Anyways, here are some pictures of the mighty '56 Ford, and I hope you guys like it!! 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr

StefanH. Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 What a great paintjob!I know how difficult black is...
fseva Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 If I ever do the Victoria again, I want it to turn out just as good as yours! You will be my inspiration!
Scalper Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Awesome as usual. Nice job. Love the flawless paint.
hedotwo Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Nice build! I have a '56 on the bench right now and hope to finish in the next week or so.
cobraman Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Another great looking Ford. Beautiful paint work.
Sixties Sam Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 That is the best build of that kit I've ever seen, Tulio! GREAT work! The finish is perfect. I like your philosophy of details. At some point it becomes too much work to be fun.Sam
Chuck Most Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 The flanks on this kit can be wavy enough to induce mild seasickness, but that slick black paint job proves you managed to take care of them.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted January 30, 2016 Author Posted January 30, 2016 Thanks a lot guys. If you want to see the making of, I have a series of YouTube videos on the build process. Here is the first one:https://youtu.be/aEi4j4KOKF8
StevenGuthmiller Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Great looking Ford Tulio!I'm with you on the build philosophy.I figure what's in the box is close enough for me.Don't get me wrong, I have no problem switching out or scratch building parts on occasion, but I don't fret too much about a few inaccuracies here & there. For me it sucks all of the fun right out of building if I worry too much about those things.I really want to build another one of these someday, along with the "sister" '57.Haven't built either one for many years & I'm pretty sure I could do a little better job now.Terrific work!! Steve
D. Battista Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 As usual very nice work...!Always a pleasure to view your builds.
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 As usual very nice work...! Always a pleasure to view your builds. X2. You have a fine steady foiling-knife hand too. Envy envy.
Lordmodelbuilder Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Nice build! That black finish looks a mile deep. I built a mild custom version of this kit last year and it did have a bunch of sink marks that needed attention.
espo Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Another of your beautiful Ford builds. As you pointed out this tooling is getting old and there is issues with the body and other parts. I'm impressed with the trim. It looks like Bare-Metal foil in the pictures.
