misterNNL Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Just a suggestion,I'd consider centering the steering wheel in the cockpit area since that will the only spot the driver will be able to sit without leaning their head over at a really awkward angle.
James2 Posted March 26, 2016 Author Posted March 26, 2016 Thanks guys I always enjoy your feedback. Here is a little teaser pic with some of the parts I found. Keep in mind there will be much cutting and some other changes along the way. I have some what of a picture in my head but I really like to let the car build it self, if you know what I mean. Tom thanks for the tip, but I do plan on using the Beatnik interior and much like the real show cars the bubble would have to be up in order to drive any way.
crazyrichard Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 (edited) awsome .. and yes i know what you mean i always let the car buid itself , let the parts i use or fabricate dictate the style and look .. going to look stunning ! Edited March 26, 2016 by crazyrichard
MrObsessive Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) I'm not a street rod kinda guy, but my curiosity got the best of me, and all I can say is WOW! I would never have thought about using a bubble top on a street rod! I'll definitely be a lot more curious to see where this one goes! Edited March 28, 2016 by MrObsessive
DrKerry Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 I knew Craig would find this one!!!!!!! Reminds me of something that would come out of your mind Craig!!!!!!!
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Great choice of parts. Looking forward to seeing more.
Mr. Metallic Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 When I picture a bubbletop on a hot rod this comes to mind.
James2 Posted March 29, 2016 Author Posted March 29, 2016 Thanks very much for the interest, here is a little more....
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 (edited) That's working very well. Amazing how things like this almost seem to know what they want to be...all you have to do is pay attention to what they're telling you. Edited March 29, 2016 by Ace-Garageguy
mrm Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Wow! Fenders look great. Wouldn't it have been easier to fill the door seams before attaching the fenders tho?
horsepower Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Maybe it's what you have planned, but I can see the lower parking/signal lights from the Cadillac bumper being used incorporating that part of the bumper as light pods, and turn them into modern projection beam style headlights. Stripping the chrome and doing a little body work to the cut areas on the bumper then paint body color, and use either foil or good silver in the light buckets, I've heard of guys using alclad chrome with a brush in small spots like that with good luck.Keep on building it's really got that "Look" to it.
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Love. Never thought about using 32 ford fenders in reverse. Keep up the good work.
James2 Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 (edited) I always do exactly what the plastic tell me to do! Del your spot on with the turn signals, and here is a small update. The devil is in the details, no matter how subtle! I made some curved fillers to cover the space between the rear tire and fenders and than added a piece at the floor board and fire wall to help take away the squareness. More to come.... James2 Posted March 31, 2016 Author Posted March 31, 2016 A little more plastic shaping last night...
Jantrix Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 I am very impressed with this build. Great design and execution.
