I was wondering, has anyone heard any news about Revell turning their 1957 Ford tooling to a Ranchero?  I've got the sedan, I've got the wagon, and now, I want the Ranchero!  (stock height, not the thing they put out years ago and then chopped.  I want a new one)

If interested, I have a opened but all there, Revell not chopped 1957 Ford Ranchero I would be willing to sell or trade.

The old tool Revell 57 Ranchero is wrong as it's based on their old 4 door wagon, so the doors are too short.

You are not alone, this issue has been in speculation ever since Revell released the 57 Ford Custom 300 kit and Revell has not said either yes or no yet.
But it would of course be possible as the 2 door wagon was the base for the Ranchero and they only need to do a new body and some other small things.

Some months back, when Revell showed up at a club event, there was no indication that a Ranchero was even on the Radar (which we took to mean not in the next two to three years).  The most likely would be a gasser based on the 57 wagon.  But, they were gearing up for the Star Wars VII toys big demand.  Who knows when, if ever, they will do it.

Your best bet now is the Flintstone Ranchero body on the Wagon kit.  Like any Flintstone resin, you need to do a good amount of clean up to make it fit.

I was afraid of this.  I got my hopes up while Revell skipped AROUND the one body style I really wanted.  Thanks for the replies.  I'm guessing the Flintstone way may be the quickest way, if not the easiest.

I think a Ranchero from Revell is a certainty since I purchased a JF resin kit. :) It seems that every time I've bought a resin body to use with a current kit the model company adds that body style to their lineup. JIM

The Ranchero by Revell is a "given," trust me. Of course it could be awhile before it reaches the hobby shop shelves, like a year or two. In the meantime I have plenty of kits and projects to build rather than dwell on a pickup truck.

JIM, You might be right about the resin thing.  I bought a JF Station Wagon to go with the Revell 300, and what got advertised the next day?  You guessed it.  A Station Wagon.  But I'm going to let you be the test subject on the "buy a resin body, then a plastic kit comes out" experiment.  I've spent enough money being that guy.

Nick, I, too, have other stuff to worry about in between.  I was just wondering, because I saw a really cool Ranchero last night, and I had to ask.  So I don't go buying resin bodies or cutting up station wagon bodies.

I contacted Revell a year ago about a 57 Ranchero, got a real nice reply saying wait and see ,we cannot comment any further...

That's a nice way of saying either "we are trying" or "Yes" without confirming or denying anything at all.  I believe that this calls for more patience on my part.  I'm not good at being patient.

My guess (no insider knowledge here) is that we will eventually see a new Ranchero based on this tool, but it will be a few years down the road.    TIM

I had talked to Bill Lastovich from Revell before he had passed away, and he gave indications that we would have a Ranchero kit. I know it's gonna happen, trust me. How soon, is another story.

Or how about a 58 Ranchero? Then enterprising kitbashers could make a whole bunch of 57 and 58 crossover body styles. Resin casters too! 58 wagon, 57 Ranchero...

Slight Problem with that

The 58 Ranchero used 57 Tail lights while ALL 58 Wagons had 58 Tail lights!!!!

Reasoning was to save damage to tail lights when tailgate was lowered

Interesting they did not retain the tail lights on Wagons too

How would they not be damaged when lowering the tailgate??

I think they'd be insane not to do it.

Like everyone else, the question is when.

When? Revell will issue the Ranchero kit before I finish all the un built kits in my stash. I can guarantee that.

I think it is a given that we will see it.  With most of the engineering done with the other models so they will spend less cash to release another good seller.

Just look at the 48 Ford line and the 32 Ford Line that has been expanded with different body styles.
