CelticModeler Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 (edited) So next build for me is one of my favorite cars ever made. The 70.5 camaro. I will be building this with pro touring style and mainly stock components other than wheels and some suspension alterations. Here is the 1:1 im trying to replicate. The hood will be slighlty different with a small cowl instead of the ram air. Edited April 2, 2016 by CelticModeler
carcrazy19 Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 I like them both but if you want an opinion I like the pro touring look. With that said build what ever inspires you or build both.
Jonathan Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 I gotta agree w/ Anthony. That second car looks just right!
DrKerry Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 I like 'em both but it's your build. Build what feels right!!!!!! Or you could always flip a coin and see!!!!! LOL
djflyer Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Gotta go with the pro-tour. I have a scrap box Firebird project I was thinking about, so this build should be interesting.
Perspect Scale Modelworks Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 You have to do what you like but sometimes you have to break out of your comfort zone to test your skills & learn new ones. Pro touring would be my choice.
CelticModeler Posted March 26, 2016 Author Posted March 26, 2016 I would like to build them both eventually. Love both styles. But i think im going to go with everyone elses opinion and do the protour. Now i juat have to aquire the wheels for the right look
oldnslow Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 The Pro Street fad is kinda old, Pro Touring is , to me , closer to something you could actually use.
CelticModeler Posted March 27, 2016 Author Posted March 27, 2016 The Pro Street fad is kinda old, Pro Touring is , to me , closer to something you could actually use.I agree pro tour is more likely to be a comfortable daily than prosreet but i still like both styles. Ive never been one to follow fads when it comes to customization. I do what i like and what is clean in my eye. If i like something but others dont, that doesnt mean i wont continue to like it. Juat like i love rat rods and will always love them. They seem to be out of style now but i stll enjoy them. Have a scale version of one id own just havnt gotten around to finishing it
blunc Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 (edited) This one is kind of nice..."The Professor" and there are quite a few photos of it online. Edited March 27, 2016 by blunc added text
mrm Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 The first one just looks outdated. I vote for the second one too.
Richard Bartrop Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 It's your build, and you're the one who has to be happy with it, but since you're asking, I think the pro touring one better suits the Ferarriesque look of that model Camaro.
Dann Tier Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I'd go with the pro touring look, IMO, the second photo is the best look.
horsepower Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 For the wheels, do an eBay search for; fujimi tires and wheels, and click the description box. I know I've seen about the same set on there, but you'll have to paint the centers unless you get lucky and they're one of the two piece sets with just outer hoops and unpainted centers, and you might have some trouble finding the proxis tread pattern in wide enough tires, I've picked up a couple of sets but not that wide on Wal-Mart brand diecast of the Pontiac two seat roadster, and it's Saturn counter part, I got lucky and found them in a clearance aisle for $4.00 each.
CelticModeler Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 Ok that settles it. IM GOIN PROTOURING. Found these wheels on ebay for $10.00 was a little iffy on the size because the seller wasnt sure on the exact size but figured id go for it anyways since they are almost exactly what im looking for. We will see when they come in if its a go. I hope they work because im tired of searching for the perfect wheel.
CelticModeler Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 So started some of the body work today while im waiting for my wheels to come in. Shaved the rear trunk emblem, fixed the messed up mold tear on the hood. Attached the tail and began putty work to make it seamless. The tail itself was pretty twisted and warped and fit horribly so had to heat and straighten several times to get it decent enough to work with. Tried coming up with a ram air scoop for the hood but couldnt come up with any ideas that i liked so think i might just leave it stock. Undecided on that right now yho. If anyone has some advice or decent pics of a hood that looks good on this please share. Im drawing a blank.
CelticModeler Posted April 2, 2016 Author Posted April 2, 2016 (edited) Still waiting for the wheels and some small other supplies to come in to start major work. However got the power plant wrapped up. Matched the motor to the colors i will be using on the car. Have some minor touch ups to do but 99% complete. Let me know what you guys think Edited April 2, 2016 by CelticModeler
Belugawrx Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 (edited) I just left mine stock,...sleeper like, ..yano? I like the stock flat hood a lot...personally that's what I'd use, but if you want to do something different, I think a cowl hood would go well with the pro-touring look...if you don't want to bother with making one yourself, you can get a resin one on ebay for about $10 shipped. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Resin-Cowl-Hood-for-70-1-2-Camaro-AMT-1-25-New-/121329352654?hash=item1c3fcaffce:g:9vwAAOxyYANTXcpk

Why would they cast it in orange. And if the wheels are that big ill use another set i have and use those on a truck
CelticModeler Posted April 2, 2016 Author Posted April 2, 2016 Thanks i am just ordered some cowl pieces. Not the whole hoods just the tunnels so i can mold it myself.Motor is looking great.
