Art Laski Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 (edited) A few years back a good friend of mine asked me if I would build him a model, and he asked about an Edsel Ford Model 40 Speedster. I had no idea what this even was, so I did a little internet research on the car, then went looking for a model of it.It turns out that this was a one-off car Edsel Ford had built in the early thirties. Long story short, it resurfaced a few years ago and was recently restored. You can read about the history of it here:http://www.fordhouse.org/experience/edsel-fords-1934-special-speedster/the-storyI found that R&D Unique made a kit of this, and eventually was able to locate one. The full story is here on the WIP page:http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/111038-edsel-ford-model-40-speedster Edited May 2, 2016 by Art Laski

crazyrichard Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 awsome result espacially seeing what you started with )
Art Laski Posted May 3, 2016 Author Posted May 3, 2016 Very Nice Model Mr. Laski what's next...? Good question, Curt. I will probably get back on the brass framed midget. I might mix in a Chaparral 2K resin Indy car along the way, too!
bbowser Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Great model Art, glad you saw it through the fun with the front end. I never knew this existed but it's pretty sporty for the '30s. Very European.
unclescott58 Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Very nice Art. Shows that Edsel Ford had good taste. And so do you.
W-409 Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 That looks spectacular! I've never seen one of these built before, but that's no wonder considering how rare it is. Great to see one that's built this well. Good looking paint job and those working lights are a very nice touch. Great job.
Dennis Lacy Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Fantastic model of historical and unique vehicle. I enjoyed following the build thread. Will you be bringing this to the Lower Left Coast NNL in August?
Art Laski Posted June 24, 2016 Author Posted June 24, 2016 Thanks for The kind comments, guys! I really do appreciate it. Dennis, I do plan to be at a LLC NNL, and should have this build with me. I don't technically own it anymore, but I get to take it on tour! Come and see me at my Pro Tech table if you make it there.Art
