mike 51 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Strange mistake for someone who's been driving that thing for 50 years now to make.....glad the guys were ok!
Toner283 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Strange mistake for someone who's been driving that thing for 50 years now to make.....glad the guys were ok!If you look into it they were on part of the straight away at the track. The car came back down on all 4 just as they were entering one of the banked turns. Bob tried to turn so as to not go into the banked section and the car was still moving too fast to turn. if they had had proper run out room like a drag strip has, the car probably would not have turned over. Definitely glad everybody was ok. Sheetmetal can be fixed.
Maindrian Pace Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 The Hemi was under the glass, then over, then under, then over, then under again.
XJ6 Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 It will never be original again the body will have to be replaced
majel Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 That was pretty intense!! That body is trashed, thank God for safety equipment.
Harry P. Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 It will never be original again the body will have to be replaced It wasn't original to begin with.
XJ6 Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 It wasn't original to begin with.Oh ok thanks for the heads up
russosborne Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Yeah, this was one of several that Bob had built and then sold. Apparently there is some discussions going on as to who is going to pay to repair/rebuild this one.Russ

vamach1 Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I think Leno can afford to pay for the repairs or have his guys do it. He is Mega rich.
DrKerry Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Watch the video about mid way through the pass the car started to bounce and upset the car prior to the turn... It may have made it through had it not already been upset.....
Draggon Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 What got me in that video was how the audience laughed. Sheesh. Obviously not car people.
unclescott58 Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 As long as both guys came out okay! As noted the car can be, and has been repaired in the past. It is kind or cool to watch. Funny? I didn't laugh. But I can see where others might find it funny.
MrBuick Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 I'm shocked the body held up as well as it did considering the number of times it rolled and the violence in which it did so...really speaks for the construction of the structure of that thing! I'm glad nobody was hurt, but I have no idea why they wouldn't have been running that thing at a drag strip...seems like a wheel-standing car shouldn't be doing its thing where it can easily run out of room.
Craig Irwin Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Drag car on a banked oval track? That was a GREAT idea!
oldnslow Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Drag cars historically do not like to turn at speed, especially tall top heavy ones.
disabled modeler Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Speaking from experience it never matters how much or long you have done it anything can happen at any time....glad there ok.
