Here's the Gas Man, from the '60's-era 49er box.

I don't know what the box will look like or the contents will be, but I know they have an original 49er kit on loan.  Note that the 49er had unique custom wheels that they would have to re-tool if they were to bring it back.

Kit will be different too. AMT eliminated the metal axle on the front wheels . so engine has no hole

LINDBERG   -  LND-222  -  1/25 Owens Outboard Cruiser Boat  -  $29.99

Anyone know anything about this one, style , length etc

This one has 2 Evinrude 75 hp outboards. No trailers though, 22 scale feet

The wheels on the box top were Appliance Mags, that were also in the 1966 Impala SS annuals. Personally, I would like AMT to include the '61 Dodge Spinner Caps that was in the original kit from the '60's.

Interesting to see the '77 Monza listed there, what with the other Monza threads going on now.  I'm familiar w/ the MPC Monzas, never had an AMT one...curious what this kit is like.  Says 'custom'.

Interesting news on several of these.  Very cool to see the '68 El Camino with the soap box derby car.  Only problem is I already have several of the original 90s issue factory stock version.  Don't know if the soap box car is cool enough for me to drop that kind of coin on another one.  Now if they can manage to also include the street machine parts to make it a 2 in 1 kit, I'd probably bite the bullet (I only recently learned about some of the features of that version, including the mini tubs).

Kind of curious about that AMT Monza, too.  Was really hoping for the MPC to be reissued, but will need to wait and see to find out more about this one.

Don't think anyone's pointed out yet that the classic '57 Ford Fairlane is on this list.  Kind of curious to see what the contents of that one will be.  That's popped up a couple times the last few years on release lists (maybe not official), but never seemed to happen.  So wondering if some of the original custom parts have been restored?  That tool made it through the mid 90s pretty much unmolested, then AMT/Ertl eliminated pretty much all the vintage custom/racing parts and replaced them with "modern" parts, that ironically are now totally out of date.

Not sure if the original stuff was left intact/gated off, or destroyed or lost.  I suspect the latter, which may be why a couple of the retro releases weren't able to happen when announced a few years ago...

I agree, those spinners were very nice

I found a set of them in my travels several years ago. I am going to use them on a resin '61 Dodge Hardtop in my stash.

Pacer wagon! Sign me up for one!

$25.95 for a SNAP Camaro, and the glue kit is only $4 more?? That pricing is wacky, and at that level, completely uncompetitive with Revell's snaps, which are $6-10 less. Sign me up for a glue kit; need to grab a brochure so I can do the detailing right.

Bob and I were talking about those boats at the store last week or so. From what he was saying, they're actually pretty nice kits. That Century is gorgeous- even if simplified, it'll look great behind any one of a number of cars of that vintage.

I believe that Century is a 22' boat as is the Owens. . They need a 4 wheel trailer due to their size. Maybe we can hack up a 76 Caprice Trailer?

Cool. Wondered if the derby car tool might have survived. I've never had the kit but finally found an empty, and unfortunately ratty, box in the last couple years.

I built my El Camino from the Soap Box Derby kit in the early 80's, however I have no idea what I did with the derby car and I probably "tossed" the box

This is the old Palmer kit, interestingly labelled as a '1960'.

This is what the Owens box looked like:

That's the plan as I understand it, although I do not recall whether the Derby car was a rediscovery of the original tool or a recreation.  Box art will be different enough to make sure that collectors do not mistake this issue as an original.

If you've never seen the AMT-Ertl '68 Camino, it's one of the nicest kits from the mid-late 1990's John Mueller / Dyersburg AMT Ertl era  The street machine version even had such cool features as a slightly tubbed pickup box floor and a highly accurate replica of an early aftermarket (B&M?) supercharger setup.

Should be an excellent kit.....TIM

I've always had an affinity for old boats and wooden boats . back when I was still manufacturing Van accessories , I used to make boat pieces and interior bracing for early automobiles in the 20's and 30's . There's just something magic when you're buzzing a piece of mahogany or teak through a band saw . I know I'll love doing BOTH of these boats and hopefully creating a diorama depicting say Williams burg Virginia
