   HEY, Who has some Tabasco??????

Yea, I remember that.  I don't know about you grunts, but the Air Force ones came with a tiny bottle of Tabasco.  That is about all that made them edible.  Oh and by the way the Flight lunches were far better!

Oh, you're right on that count, Skip. The only pizza you eat with a knife and fork here and not get laughed out of the place is Chicago-style deep dish pizza. There's no other way to eat it! And of course we'll have an ice-cold pitcher of beer with that...

now that's what us southern boys would call tomato pie.

During the Vietnam years, Heinz had a C-Rat dress up kit sent for free to any troop in Vietnam.  The kit consisted of ketchup, mustard, tabasco, salt, pepper, and some other flavor enhancers that I no longer recall.

We brought our own spice racks. Tabasco, garlic powder, chili powder, oregano, black pepper, etc. None of those were of any help when it came to Ham & Eggs, Chopped and Tuna Fish. If you were lucky, you'd have "Dead duke" bars in the cracker can.

Obviously, you've never eaten C-Rations

I've eaten C-rations, mostly on hunting trips with my dad

I actually liked the canned fruitcake

You're probably the only person who did. Whenever we were on maneuvers, we would give the little german kids our C-Rats. Even they threw the fruitcake, tuna, spaghetti and ham & eggs cans back at us.

Never been to NYC but know about mustard on fresh pretzels!!!  A hot pretzel with good mustard is a treat!

Yes, In New England (at least in Eastern Mass. and Southern NH) we also put mustard on pretzels. Unfortunately many vendors only have the crappy yellow mustard.  I like it darker with more kick to it. :D

When I was a kid I lived half a block from Kosciusko Park! No mustard there, though. Just softball fields, tennis courts, playground... you know, typical city park. No condiments. :P

And I lived just 2-3 blocks west of Pulaski Road!

Small world...

Oh yea, a course ground brown mustard.  We used that in Nebraska on brats and polish sausages.  Never bothered with a bun.  Just a blob on a plate and dip the wiener in and enjoy!  Also the only way to enjoy a runza!  Lots of kids in the area who's names ended in -ski.

I am a Pollack right off the boat (um, in my case it was a jet airliner), but I never heard of runza in my neck of the woods. Had to look it up. It is of Russian origin and it seems tasty.

I don't know how Joe Z's name appeared in my post above, but I was agreeing with Tom in that Kosciusko mustard is the only one we use in my house.

Kurwa! That is the the best kind of mustard to have with kielbasa wiejska or fried kielbasa biala with some czarny chleb and sałatka ziemniaczana. :)

I like the one from Cracovia also

Fast food. We don't really do it anymore. The quality at every chain has suffered so drastically that we just gave up on em. If we do something fast-food-ish, it's someplace like Culvers, 5 Guys, Wow, or PDQ where the food is fresh. Where your burger started as ground beef on a grill, not a frozen pre-cooked patty in a micro-wave. The fries were a potato an hour ago, not potato slurry pushed through a press six months ago and have been sitting frozen somewhere since.

I know you don't get them in Florida, but that is how In-n-Out does it.  I suspect they may have been one of the originators of the "Fresh" burger movement.  As to Fries, you can watch them cut the potatoes up just before they go in the fryer.  I actually had some one once tell me they didn't like In-N-Out fries because they tasted like potatoes!

Oh, and Fuddruckers is the same, except you can watch them grind the beef and bake the buns.  Crazy how good fresh ingredients beat the other stuff every time.

Pretty hard to beat the $1.50 hotdog/polish sausage with a drink at Costco

except when you want two hotdogs!  They should do something like $1 each for additional dogs.  I usually wind up giving my second cup to someone else on line who is getting pizza.

I've had In n Out when I'm on the left coast. Very good.

When I make Runza it is with sauerkraut and good ground chuck and sweet Vidalia onions.  My mom called them Kraut burgers so I was never aware of the origin of the name. Every Nebraska Football game I have ever been to(including away games) some one will have a Runza stand setup in the parking lot selling them.  Ya, it a Husker thing.  Go Big Red!

MMMM...........Fuddruckers!

As I've mentioned before, I've pretty much shunned fast food in recent years, but THEY'VE GOT SOME GOOD FOOD!!

There use to be one not far from me here in Central PA, but unfortunately they closed. Then I went to one after church services out of town (VA) one time and really liked it. We tried to go back again another time, and that one was closed! :(

Haven't seen one around since..............
