I'll freely admit to being cheap!  Most I ever gave was $60 for a kit and it worked me hard .  I've got about 130 in the stash so there's no pressing need.  If I ever do find a MPC 1/20 Indy Turbine Car I may just beat that!

Did they do that kit in 1/20th scale, or are you talking about the 1/25th scale like this one?

If it is that one, I know where there are TWO right now! :D

For me, the most on any single kit, about $230 CDN each on a couple of MFH DB9 kits. Another $130 US each on a couple of Le Mans Miniatures kits. Another $170ish on HRM Daytona Coupe. I have a couple of ST27 kits that are about another $120 US each. I just picked up the new Tamiya FXX K with the decals and CF decals as a single purchase so that's another $100 or so. Man, it just adds up doesnt it.......... I have some of the large scale MFH kits on my wish list, but at about $300-500 with exchange and shipping, I just cant pull the trigger on one right now.

That's the 2nd generation turbine car, I'm looking for the "Silent Sam" 1967 car that nearly won the race.  I saw it run in person during time trials, eerily silent as it swooshed by the grandstand!  Hacked one up as a kid, would love a second chance at it.

16 for your same brass-gear Bugatti, Harry, a few years back.

'round 12 for complete DeAgostini subscriptions.  Warped ABS in the McLaren MP4-23, was gonna stop at the much-cleaner Countach... but then they had to offer the '67 GT500.

7 for the Pocher Aventador, with a reservation on a Huracan and whatever comes of the 300SL.

'round 5-6 on MFH 1/12 Ferraris and their Cobra.

The Model King Pontiac Bonneville and Boat kit. Spent $44.00 for it at a show in Los Angeles, back when I had money. Now, If I can't use the H*bby L*bby Coupon I generally don't buy. Although I do make exceptions. Bought the Revell '57 Chevy Convertible yesterday for $19.95 at the LHS.

450.00 for an open box but complete Aurora VooDoo Vega. About 255.00 for 1/20 scale Tamiya McLaren MP4/4 with Top Studio detail up kit and decals.

HRM Cobra coupe, Trumpeter GT40 and Renaissance MKIV were all $150 or more.  I am too cheap to pay more than $50 for a 40 or 50 year old kit as there isn't a whole lot on my list that I do not have and can live without.  I did pick up a 1/12 Doyusha Mach1 for about $100 not long ago which was a very good price.

I paid a little over $600.00 for my mint, Renwal Visible Chassis, $200.00 for my HobbyFan M911 HET and another $200.00 for the trailer and i'm about to pay $285.00 for the new Miniman Factory, M911 HET and M747 trailer. I also just bought the new AMT 22" Space 1999 Eagle Transporter with the two MPC, machined aluminum engine nacelle kits, for almost $300.00.. i think I paid about $350.00 each for my KFS Cat excavator and Michigan loader kits.  I have about $2000.00 wrapped up in all my Tyrone Malone kits and of course, now I can buy four of the Super Boss kits for about $125.00! LOL

That shows just how much I know about the turbine cars, because I never even knew there was more than one or that they actually raced. I bought these for the tractors!

$165, recently, for a '63 Fairlane kit molded in cream.  I didn't know about that color, only that there were blue ones in addition to the typical solid white.  Had to keep the collection complete (AMT '62-'71 Fairlanes and Torinos, including all reissues, produced by the original AMT company).  I don't think anything else came close, except for a couple of promotionals.  I don't buy old promos anymore, the ones that come up for sale are usually doctored up (replacement chrome parts, clear gloss applied over scuffed metallic original finish, things like that).  They'd be smarter to leave them alone, they're only original once.

I had offered $200 for a 1969-issue '63 Chevy II wagon kit once, but that kit turned out to be incomplete so the seller and I agreed on a considerably lower amount.  I probably overpaid, but I wanted it at the time and never regretted the deal.

There are a few other early eBay deals that came in right around $100 apiece.  A lot of other really good items came in lower, but those were bought many years ago.  If it's something you don't often see, and you really want it, and can afford it, you don't pay too much...you only pay it too soon.

When I build a kit nowadays, I usually spend twice as much on paint as on the kit

Here's another nice money pit that i'm not sure what i'm gonna do with. Just the cab/hood and sleeper so far have cost me,

$150.00 for the rare Bill Drennen W900L

$150.00 for the custom built sleeper

$250.00 for the fade paint job (including all HOK paint)

$150.00 for the custom tribal decals.

That's just for the cab/hood and sleeper. Then there's the countless machined aluminum goodies to put on it, aftermarket engine, tires, etc. the decals curled when the clear was shot so i'm bummed out with it. Here's a link to more pics. http://public.fotki.com/lotso/project-w900l-/

Compared to most of you guys, I really am cheap. I try never to pay more than 20 bucks for any 1/24 - 1/25 kit that is in current issue and with a Hobby Lobby discount coupon, much less. I buy bargains off of eBay and wait patiently for the best price. I had about 400 unbuilt kits at one time but sold about 150 over the last two years up until last year. The two most expensive kits I had purchased were the Revell 1/8 scale '32 Ford Hiboy Hot Rod and 1/8 scale '23 Big T bought new at Hobby Lobby with a coupon. That was until last year when I bought a Testors Lincon Mint 1/6 scale Harley-Davidson FLHRI Road King off eBay for $55.00 plus $20.00 shipping.

Well I am definitely a cheapskate. I know most of the "professional" flea marketers in my area and rarely pay more than $5 for a kit and the system seems to be working because in last 4 years I've accumulated about 450 kits. There are a few older large scale kits that I paid $10-20 for but other than that it would be whatever Hobby Lobby is charging (minus 40% of course).

For a new kit, I bought a Tamiya Peugeot Rally car in 1992. I bought a Modelhaus kit a while back for $85 and a Monogram Land Rover a few years ago on ebay for $60. Now I buy Hobby Lobby clearance kits occasionally, though I am allowed the splurge purchase if we get an income tax refund.

The most I've ever laid out was $95 for a complete '61 Ford Starliner annual a few years back.  On the other hand, I once paid .25 for an MPC '68 GTO at a swap meet, and $8 for a complete

AMT '66 Mustang 2+2, but that was a ways back...

I'll spend what it takes to get what I want, but I look for "deals" and shop...and sometimes wait...for the best price I can get too. Somewhere around $125 is the tops I've shelled out to get a pristine 1/25 kit, and a couple hundred plus to get a few larger scale things. I recently bought a built-up Pocher for right at $150. It needed a full rebuild, but so what? It's a very 'spensive model if you buy a cherry.:D

And I fully expect to see progress photos! It would be nice to add another Pocher builder to our little club... sometimes I feel pretty lonely... ^_^

My two, mint, facrory sealed, AMT Kenworth/Challenge mixer kits sometimes fetch over $400.00 in this condition.

I'm very tempted to build a Pocher kit but so far the only one that Caught my interest was the big Volvo cabover truck. It's so big though, i'd have nowhere to put it!
