Thanks for the pictures Chuck, looks like a nice, cleanly molded kit. I suspect that Revell has a good seller on it's hands with this kit, I know I will be picking up several myself.

Ah, shoot, guys - there's a post missing here, in case anybody was wondering where the chrome is.  Was trying to work from a tablet, wiped out what looked like a duplicate post, and that must have been the one.

Will try to correct later...

Naw, the pic of the tires (:wub:is all that matters. :D Thanks for posting the pics, Chuck.

Cleverly anticipating the inevitable questions about opening up the rear wheel openings...

thanks, Chuck!

Yup, Mike, plastic is definitely thinner there - though the two-stage detents seem to indicate smaller and larger rectangular patterns, for whatever that might mean.

You're welcome too, Case -  the tires follow current Revell practice and they don't mandate any wonky orientation in the treads in their fit.  Wheels fit from either side.

I was hoping they might have lightly engraved a line on the inside for the bigger wheel openings. It would be kind of surprising if they didn't have flares and maybe a template for cutting in a future reissue of this kit. Looks good so far... Thanks Revell !

One thing I like that Revell did with this kit was make the wheel covers separate , meaning you can chose to use them or the steelies

I agree Jonathan, and hopefully other wheels will fit into these tires and vice versa, I am imagining many possibilities.

A good thing IMHO since the wheel covers look tiny. That said, I haven't measured them or compared to anything more than photos, but they look barely larger than dog-dish poverty caps, not like Galaxie wheel covers.

The diffs and wheels will probably work well for F100 4x4s with minor work and as the 1:1 tail lights are the same between the broncos and 67-72 F series, the revell parts could be used to improve the current 69-'72 F100 kit offerings too.

Ahh yes, I see it now, they do seem to be bit too small.

I posted this on another thread.............

Hard to tell until I have the kit in my hands...........but the tires are so tall, it just may appear to make the wheel covers look like they're on the small side.

I did see that in the other thread, and that is what helped me notice the size that Zoom Zoom was talking about,  it is very possible that the tires are making them seem smaller than they really are.

Hmmm... were the kit engineers/designers using a broken ruler?

I'm 99.9% sure whenever it happens from whatever company's kit designers that don't realize that the visible wheel diameter is greater than the stated size because of the bead retainer, which adds 1-2" to the visible diameter of every wheel. Followed apparently by no knowledgeable oversight or measurement in either the design or test shot phase. This isn't a shape issue, it's purely one of misinterpreting wheel dimensions and then reducing them for a model. It's frustrating that it's become somewhat expected from Revell because it's such a common issue with their models. Not always, but frequently enough, and both from Revell US and Revell GmbH.

Well danm.  The Ford GT and the C7 'Vettes gave reason to believe Revell was finally fixing their approach to wheels.

As it's also been observed, that otherwise nice grille is pretty dead flat instead of mildly convex as the 1:1, and the pics above make me think Revell managed to slab-side the body just a bit (quite an accomplishment with a Bronco), particularly at the rocker level.  Just a tiny bit, maybe.

The difference this time is, the plastic in both those areas is thin enough to give you some hope of correcting that if you're careful.
