TarheelRick Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 (edited) Wow, that is one clean build. Thank you for posting it. I went with my Dad to see the brand new 1957 Chevrolets at Pioneer Chevrolet in Yadkinville, NC. Of course the dealership has long been closed, bought out and moved to another location. The old buildings are still there, but are in very poor condition. Went by the old Pioneer Chevrolet this afternoon on the way to my aunt's for Thanksgiving Dinner. Old Coyote Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Absolutely stunning build Mark ............... your talents are exceptional
MarkJ Posted November 22, 2016 Author Posted November 22, 2016 Wow i love it, is that box stock The air cleaner and carbs are scratchbuilt and the interior required some scratchbuilding to remove the rear seat but the rest is box stock. Oh yes and the tires and wheels are from my spare parts box. The tires and wheels that come with the kit are chrome custom wheels and low profile wide modern tires. here is the kit.
W-409 Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Very nice! It's always nice to see these old Stock Cars being built. Really nice and clean work on this '56, everything seems to be just right. Even the holes for side trim are there!I have a question: What did you use to make those straps that keep hood and trunk lid shut? I have a Black Widow Chevy in progress and I'd like to display it with hood open as well, so those straps have to be a bit flexible to display them on or off...

You can also get it in bigger diameters. I purchased it from "Hobby Lobby" a craft store here in the states.

landman Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 I've had an old timey stock car in the back of my mind for quite some time. This stupendous build might be what gets me going. Verywell done!
Cpt Tuttle Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Very good build, I'm not so keen about modern day NASCARs, but when they looked like real cars instead of soap bars full with advertisement for breakfast cereal or whatever, they were actually pretty cool!
