RestoModGuy Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 One of my first builds after a 40 year hitus about 2 years ago. I know many of you will not appreciate that I didn't build this with stock wheels, my build style is more custom than stock, sorry if this offends the stock purists, with larger custom wheels.
58 Impala Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Great looking model, love the wheels. They give it a mild custom look.
StevenGuthmiller Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Looks very nice!I'm a stock "purist" & I would never be offended by wheels like that.Just don't like them. They just look way out of place to me on such a beautiful classic car.In my opinion, they belong on an Escalade. But there's no question, you did a beautiful job on this '65! Steve
dragstk Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I like it a lot. Im a big fan of stock appearing cars with modern updates under the skin
D. Battista Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Not a big fan of big wheels on old cars... But I must say the wheels you chose look prety cool on this car .... Nice job ...!
geardriven Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Dad owned a '65 Catalina (non 2+2) in Iris Mist w/ black interior...(the car I learned how to drive with)... I have (3) of these kits sealed and as soon as the paint arrives from MCW, this kit will come up on the work table. I am a fan of originality, but I think these wheels were tastefully done....
NY Modeler Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 While I appreciate stock builds, I prefer some custom touches. Though I'm not at all a fan of today's large wheel/thin rubber combinations, I have to admit that it does look great on this build.Nicely done. Beautiful paintwork.
DumpyDan Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Looks good and the wheels, nice choice. I never know what wheels to use til now.
espo Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Beautiful looking build. As others have pointed out weather you personally like the wheels or not you look past that if it should bother you. I for one prefer and usually build in much the same manor as your self and for me as long as its this side of Donk I fine with it. Everyone has things they prefer but the great thing about here is you get to see so many different styles and some unbelievable details. We all have a lot to learn from each other. I give your build two thumbs up.
TooOld Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Beautiful 2 + 2 ! I'm not offended by the wheels either , it's your model and if you like 'em that's all that matters .
RestoModGuy Posted January 27, 2017 Author Posted January 27, 2017 (edited) Well thanks everyone to comment. I appreciate the feedback and yes, it's my build and this is my build style although I have done closer to stock builds in the past as tribute cars. One example is a 67 Grand Prix convertible tribute my dad owned from new until the late 90's. He did take off the factory 8-lugs and replaced with an American Racing Western wheel with whitewalls, which I personally think really looked great on that car Edited January 27, 2017 by RestoModGuy
donb Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 I would gladly drive that car all day (and night) long. Beautifully done.
moparfarmer Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 AS you mentioned in the beginning, the wheels don't do anything for me but they suit the model in its modern style..Very well done and CLEAN..I'd be proud to call that my model..You can send it to me, just the way it is...
bbowser Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Beautiful paint and foil work, the red one is sweet, too!
D. Battista Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 The '67 GP is a beautifull build... nice wheels....!
Modelbuilder Mark Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Looking really good. The wheels are tastefully done, good compliment color wise as well, and fit the look well.
Dann Tier Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 I think you did a beautiful/ tasteful custom job here! Everything FLOWS extremely well!!
