Has the 1/8 Trans Am ever been re-released? I want a large scale T/A, but the soon to be released '79 from MPC seems the only route available for a reasonable price.....

I remember purchasing the 1/8 Jag with S&H Green Stamps when I was a kid.  Yep, the redemption outlet actually had them in stock.  I'll never forget how excited I was when I had enough stamps saved up.  That kit built up real nice, too.

I think we have a late winner for the "unusual places you've bought models" thread!

All good responses guy's but I guess I should have said the Big Deuce, Big Rod, Big Drag and Big Tub....

All currently on Ebay and breaking new records I think....

Check them out....

The IROC Z's I've noticed are now starting to get close to the 300 mark and the 82 Z/28 is not to far behind it. Noticed for awhile there that the 85 Corvette was pretty reasonable but I've been noticing the ones that are selling it are starting to ask a three number figure for it now.  WOW I'm sure glad mine are still unbuilt as I would not want to pay these prices.  I would love to have one of the 1/8 Trans Am's but I don't want a second mortgage just to get one..

Big Tub, brand new, unmolested, $179 buy-it-now. I honestly don't think that's too much. These things are huge, and the cheapest you'll ever get an entry-level Pocher is in the $500 range. The Big Drag has been expensive for years, but I've seen the Big Deuce kits sell for less than $100 fairly recently, and I've bought perfectly restorable gluebombs for less than $50.

How much do you all THINK these things should sell for?

Big Deuce was $119.95 MSRP last time it was resissued (and I kick myself for not getting one from work at the time!) 10 years ago.  Just with inflation that's $140 today.  So yeah, probably $150 or so. The recent 1/8 65 Vette from RoG was $159 MSRP.

This! I am not understanding why some of these aren`t being re-released. The Iroc was just re-released about 10 years ago (???) for a short run, and it is already bringing big $$ again. The Trans Am, especially the `79, has also been bringing big money for a long time. I was able to snag a damaged one about 12 years or so ago, and considered myself very lucky to have found one in any condition around $100. Back then, they were in the $200-$300 for decent ones. I can`t imagine what a sealed one in new condition would go for now.

When they re-released the Iroc, I was thinking it was selling for $70 at the LSH? The new Mustang (1/12) went for $60 or so at Hobby Lobby if memory serves me. I don`t see why they can`t retail for closer to $100 if that means making it profitable to re-release. I mean, kids get Lego sets that are $200.

I got screwed on the Sizzler reissue. I was expecting a reissue of the original wonky scale kit from my youth.

What we got was a redo into a more saleable scale 1/25 th.

Why not do that with the Big Tee ? Little Tee and all it's reiterations ?

Give us a Little Tee with all the makings for each rendition of the Big Tee releases.

Something selling for several hundred dollars on eBay doesn't necessarily translate to thousands of sales as a reissue.  It only means that a handful of people (as few as two) were willing to beat each others' brains in to get the one that was available at that moment.  If another Big Drag turns up in the next couple of days, it'll probably sell for less than the first one, because the pool of potential buyers is down by one for now...

From what I know is that the IROC and Trans-Am will not be issued again any time soon due to license issues. Why the Corvette from the same mothercompany is getting licensed is a question I never got an answer from Revell. But that's how it is unfortunately.

The Corvette is a RoG issue, as the molds of the '65 and the E-Type are in hands of RoG. Prices of the '65 Corvette are around 90 Euro's (about 100 dollars) at stores. Which I think is reasonable. Even for a 50 year old kit.

The E-type (or XKE) was re-issued 1 or 2 years ago for a German toystore and limited to 1,000 pieces for 99,95 Euro's.  Also reasonable.

But; most 1/8 models cost over here less than they do in The States. Reason? I can only guess, but I think the Europeans are less willing to dig deep in their pockets, compared to the Northern American modellers/collectors.

Basically; thos 'T'- models can be found in Europe rather easily for less than 100 dollars, if one is being somewhat patient, since they haven't been sold a lot over here.

IROC and TransAm would be a separate license, they're not owned by GM.
