Just curious, whats up with the ads for women at the bottoms of post pages? I mean "Russian Women" then theres the one where she only lives 2.8 miles from me, wanna met up? Come on!!!! Thought this was a family friendly place...

I don't see the ads on this site because I have an ad blocker.

I've been told that the ad service targets individuals based on their browsing history.  For instance, I looked at a Fiat dealer's website. For the next week I got Fiat ads.

Buy any Russian Women recently?  :o

On my work computer I spend a lot of time in Skype meetings with Ireland.  My browser gets confused and suddenly I'm being directed to eBay UK when I log in!

Ads are based on your browsing history

Maybe, but I'm the only one using this computer, and I do not search out Russian women or any other type of material even remotely related.

Thanks for the ad blocker, I've  installed  it and it seems to be working.

Nothing here (addblocker) but if I look at items I may want to buy , like lawnowers at Home Depot or something at Walmart I will have an ad popup on my FB Page

Not sure what I looked at but so far I have gotten popups for a gallon of Coyote Urine, a gallon of Liquid Garlic scent and a gallon of Fox Urine ??????

Maybe someone has figured out that modelbuilding is a somewhat solitary thing and we needed some companionship in our lives! LOL!

okay, story time

Many years ago I had a co-worker who was a kind and gentile  fellow, but a bit simple, picture Woody from Cheers.

This was way before the Internet, and he replied to one of those ads. He was upset because he had issues with American girls and the ad said "faithful and obedient" women.

Well, he wound up importing this girl from the Philippines.  Immediately, this girl took charge of this guy, intent on marrying him for the green card.   I lost touch with him so I don't know how it all worked out.

I get them all the time I think they just put what they want cause I just turned mine on and got ads for motorcycles and glasses two things I've never even looked for in my life so I don't think there's much to do with things your looking at besides I rather look at Asian girls and older women than glasses!!! Lol

Mine has an ad for camping trailers.  My version of roughing it is a Hyatt!  I'm going to assume that my wife was using my laptop as she has a smaller camping trailer.

One note about Ad Block Plus - sometimes sites that depend on advertising will check if you're using it, and ask you to turn it off temporarily.  That's happened to me at a couple of scale-modeling sites. Not a big deal, since ABP includes a "For This Site" turn-off function.

As for the gold-diggers...I worked in Saudi Arabia pre-internet and got unsolicited magazines/advertising from those places all the time.  Guess they targeted expats.  Fortunately I had a bad example close at hand.  An older co-worker married a young Filipino woman and ended up supporting her entire family.  He even built a big new house for them all outside Manila.  But one day his wife disappeared from our compound.  According to local gossip, he sent her home after she got caught with a (male) Filipino worker in the rec room. In a very compromising position. On the pool table...

GaryR. A gallon of Coyote Urine, a gallon of Liquid Garlic scent and a gallon of Fox Urine? No way are we holding the MCM Fourth of July mixed drinks party at your house!

Online dating sites seem to trigger Russian Mail Order Bride ads.   But on this site it's probably just a broad ad buy. they know the demographics for the site are heavily male.     Everybody will probably see it eventually.  Ad blockers are great, I have one on every computer I surf the web on except the one work computer I use on Saturdays and I forget how much they block until I use this one.

edit - is it the one that says "You have unread messages" and looks like a Facebook page?  it came up on this one.  You can click the X and tell it you don't want to see it anymore if it's bugging you.  Ad buys are packaged together, the site doesn't really control what buys in and the buyers don't really know exactly what sites their ads will show up on.

The only pop up I'm getting today is for Lowes so that sort of tells you all about my life. Last week I was checking on tires for my wife's car and Tire Rack has been hunting me also. Ya those Russkis are into everything now I guess. They are taking over the lonely hearts clubs now.

Haha, yes I do get these sometimes. I had to press refresh a couple of times but now I got this:

Also notice the bottom ad there, it is in Norwegian and says that I'm visitor number one million and that I have won 10 000 kroner. I guess this is my lucky day, a russian lady and money. What else can go wrong?
