hpiguy Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 3n1 re-release with new decals and pad printed tires. This does include the trailer as well.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeNVoyHzsRI
THarrison351 Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 Looks like your steering wheel was broken. I hope that isn't typical of whats found in the kit.
aurfalien Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 (edited) Hi, Wow super awesome review and kit! I love AMT! I may pick this up. PS I found an article stating the race car version can be built but didn't seem to mention all his custom mods, only a few small ones. http://hotrodbunny.com/blog/ It's about 1/3 way down. This thing looks hot! Edited July 1, 2017 by aurfalien
Pete L. Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 (edited) Thanks for the great review, looks like a winner. All it's lacking is a Lloyd Bridges figure .... Edited July 1, 2017 by Pete L.
samdiego Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 A Wonderful World of Wheels reference, Awesome. I saw that in an elementary school assembly, I remember getting a stern look after yelling "HEY IT'S THE SILHOUETTE !" Still love this car.
Snake45 Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 I'm gonna get one just to see what I can make out of it. I kinda dig that racer thing above.
MrObsessive Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Those Silhouette custom front fenders came in real handy when I built this many years ago......... I built this way back in the early '90's-------long before kits started to show up. My favorite cartoon of the '60's and when I first saw those fenders in my Silhouette kit, the idea for a Mach 5 immediately came to mind!

I like your version a lot more than most I've seen. With just a tad less pronounced nose, it would look right at home as one of the early "specials" that would show up in SCCA road racing back in the dim recesses of time. Hmmmmm.....
waynehulsey Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I think it was in Rod & Customs Models were they did a sketchpad using the race parts to create a SCCA type special. Was pretty cool looking at least to me since I was more into SCCA then customs. Riverside and Cal Club forever!
RestoModGuy Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 (edited) It was one of my favorite Hot Wheels car. Glad to see it again in re-release. I'm building tributes to all the original Sweet 16 1968 release cars. Recently finished the Silhouette in purple, I did some body mods to the front fenders to make it a Hot Wheel, I kinda think it does look good with the flared fenders. The Hot Wheel Had some body mods to make it a Hot Wheel Edited July 7, 2017 by RestoModGuy
MrObsessive Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Now I LIKE that!! I had one of those too as a kid, and in fact I remember having all 16 1968 release Hot Wheels. Especially by that Christmas when I got my first set (Supercharger Sprint Set??) is when I believe I had all 16. Seeing that really brings back some memories!
Jonathan Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 Ah! I wish I had not watched that! You did an EXCELLENT review. When the re-release came out, I thought to myself ... nah, don't need that. But now that I've watched your review - those decals and tires! What a beauty! And what a well done review!! Thanks!
