Randy D Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 JC, You've got the chassis looking good !!!!!Randy
afx Posted September 17, 2017 Author Posted September 17, 2017 I appreciate the comment and the interest - thanks gentlemen. Test fit of most of the engine bay. The final version will have a little more plumbing.
iBorg Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Just stumbled upon this build. Really glad I did. This is a great project. Your WIPs are making it very easy to follow. This is truly a great how-to to build a Trans-Am classic.
afx Posted September 17, 2017 Author Posted September 17, 2017 Thanks Mike. Blanked off the tail light panel and fabricated a fuel filler.
dublin boy Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Missed a bit of this, fabulous scratch building as always JC. I still want to see the mk2 though, did you get a new Italeri one?
afx Posted September 18, 2017 Author Posted September 18, 2017 (edited) Thanks Shay. I still have a few Escorts in the stash so I didn't spring for the latest release. I understand nothing has changed in the kit except the decals. Edited September 18, 2017 by afx
Mr. Metallic Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Thanks Craig, I'll have my attorney draw up the royalties agreement. Yeah, that's if I can get one of the old R/M AAR's cheap enough. Prices seem kind of high on eBay if I'm only stealing a few parts out of it (and unlikely to ever use the rest of the parts for something else.
afx Posted September 18, 2017 Author Posted September 18, 2017 Haven't looked at the AAR kit prices, I had mine in the stash for some time. Fabricated the fuel vent and added a gas cap tether.
dublin boy Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 (edited) The new box art from Italeri looks good though JC! lolGood to see it available again. Would keep an eye out for a Zackspeed for me please? Edited September 19, 2017 by dublin boy
Roadrunner Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Do any of the 'Cuda kits, come with the louvers on the back window included?
afx Posted September 19, 2017 Author Posted September 19, 2017 Do any of the 'Cuda kits, come with the louvers on the back window included?None of the kits I have include the rear window louvers. However you may want to ask this a question to the whole forum.

afx Posted September 23, 2017 Author Posted September 23, 2017 (edited) While I am tinkering with Cudas thought I would see if I could modify the 1/24 scale Revellogram grille to fit the new tool Cuda. Sectioned it at each end in between the head lights then slowly worked it to shape. Fits pretty good. Edited September 24, 2017 by afx
1972coronet Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Looks great , JC ! Very nice work . There's a lot of real estate between the headlamps on that Monogram '71 Hemi'Cuda ; you snugged 'em up nicely .

Sectioned it at each end in between the head lights then slowly worked it to shape. Is there an advantage of the 1/24 scale grille over the 1/25 kit part? Also, I will soon have the kits you're basing your build on in my possession. Just have to order that Minilite wheel set

Also, I will soon have the kits you're basing your build on in my possession. Just have to order that Minilite wheel set I think the Revell 1/24 scale grille is more accurate than the Johan. The Johan grille is an arc rather than the correct V shape. Edited September 26, 2017 by afx
Roadrunner Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Wow, just excellent stuff happening here.
FabbricaP Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Great work so far. Awesome scratch building as usual. Will be following along, thx for the many WIP pics
Mark IV Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 I have a good friend who was one of the guys who came to AAR from Shelby. He worked during the fabrication of the cars and then crewed the cars during the series. he still has his "Hot Wheels/AAR" uniforms hanging in my neighbor's (his sister) closet! He has some great stories of the issues they had with the cars during the season and some of the problems they found and fixed on the fly.
afx Posted September 28, 2017 Author Posted September 28, 2017 Thanks Kevin & Andrew. Yea Jason I tend to over document my builds. Rick, would appreciate any AAR Team stories you would care to share.
Roadrunner Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Thanks Kevin & Andrew. Yea Jason I tend to over document my builds. Rick, would appreciate any AAR Team stories you would care to share. When you're doing something "off the beaten path", I think the more photos and descriptives, the better.
