Ace-Garageguy Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 (edited) Isn't that the same place that went ape shxx when they had some snow a couple of years ago??? Yup. Batards have raised the price of gas 50 cents a gallon too. Nice. Edited September 10, 2017 by Ace-Garageguy
KWT Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Isn't that the same place that went ape shxx when they had some snow a couple of years ago??? nah... that's Tennessee, when we get a 1/2" forecasted for the next week.
Khils Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 LOL......ya know! .....he has a point! Isn't that the same place that went ape shxx when they had some snow a couple of years ago???
KWT Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Had a family from Florida that were fleeing Irma in my town yesterday. They stopped in the little shop where my sister works. We are about an hour north of Nashville.
10thumbs Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Well I'm a Florida boy and been watching CNN here in Germany all weekend. They're trying to make a lot of drama, my opinion. There is no light hurricane, they all suck and make for a disaster.Good though, that CNN makes it clear the water is the biggest problem, not if winds are 85 or 130, which are terrible enough! My father found land that was higher up and built our home and surroundings there, we never had a problem, luckily. Just surrounding coastal areas were always hit hard, disgusting the damage and hardship.I'm kind of surprised too, they have this bitch going up through Georgia and further inland, northwards. WTF?Best wishes to those folks, and I truly hope for minimal damages.I'm a long way away, but still scared.
GT4494 Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Don't forget Jose. they have him doing a 360 and coming after Irma. Time will tell.

WTF?Best wishes to those folks, and I truly hope for minimal damages.Well, if we get heavy winds here, there are two big dead trees on my property that can very well smash part of my house, or at least one of my cars, flat. And you know what? It's at least partially my own fault for procrastinating, and not having them taken down earlier. Procrastination is a bitch sometimes.Deciding to live in a low-lying coastal area is also a conscious decision. Nobody DESERVES to have their stuff destroyed, but adults (theoretically) realistically assess risks and behave accordingly. If my 911 or the south end of my house is flattened, I really have nobody but ME to blame.
MonoPed Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 The heavy(ier) rains have started here (I'm just a few miles south of Crazy Jim), and were now just waiting for the storm to get up here. Jim wasn't kidding about the roads, US19 and US41 were bumper to bumper and sometimes a parking lot for the past three days. There's no gas here, and won't be til after the storm has passed. Got my generator running yesterday after cleaning six years of varnish out of the carburetor, and I have a good amount of fuel on hand. Flooding won't be an issue here, but it will be for Homossassa, Ozello, and Crystal River west of US19. There's a mandatory evacuation for everything west of US19, 1.5mi east of US19, and anyone in a mobile home. As of 6pm, the county commission and sheriff dept issued a curfew til 6am. Gonna be a long night.

Tom Geiger Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 About those trees, I recently talked to my insurance agent and was told that if a live tree falls and damages my house I'm covered, if it's a dead tree and I didn't have it removed before hand it's "on me." and as I found out recently, if a live tree falls in a storm and doesn't hit anything, it's on you. It landed feet from my pool pumps and filters and shed. My insurance agent said I would have been better off financially if the tree did cream them all!
Snake45 Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Heard from my Sis in law. They toured Graceland yesterday or today, so they're at least THAT far north. Looks like they might have dodged the worst of it. Dunno what they'll find when they get home, though.

GT4494 Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 So far its just a rainy and windy day here in Chas, SC as the outer bands move through. Wouldn't hurt my feelings if that's all we get..
Jantrix Posted September 11, 2017 Author Posted September 11, 2017 Heard from my friends and family in Tampa Bay. They avoided the worst of it, only dealing with about a Cat1 storm. I hope they realize what a bullet they dodged. If the storm had skirted open water on either coast, the effects would have been catastrophic.
MonoPed Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 We made it through unscathed. One broken limb, and a couple shingles blown off. Power went out at 11pm, and is still out. Running on generator power for now. On the plus side, some have already had power restored today, and Crystal River didn't get the expected storm surge.
GT4494 Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 storm over, beautiful sunny day (always is after a storm) now to spend most of the day getting the small limbs and spanish moss off the roof and out of the yard.Just another day in the low-country for me!
crazyjim Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 We made it through Irma with no damage other than small twigs and branches all over. Power went out 6:45pm Sunday and expected to be back on until Sunday 9/17. AT&T cell phones went out Sunday night to and they just came back this morning. No internet or TV until power comes back.
Rocking Rodney Rat Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 It could have been alot worse for us in the southeast...lots of trees and branches down....our power was out for less than 24 hours, over half our county is still without. Here's some pix from around the neighborhood. -RRR
crazyjim Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Happy to hear you made it through Irma. Our power is still out and might not be on until Sunday or the Sunday after. Generator is working and we found gas yesterday. Cell service came back this morning.
10thumbs Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Glad you guys made it through without great harm.
MonoPed Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 The biggest issue with Spectrum getting their stuff fixed is lack of gasoline. I shot this Wednesday afternoon at the Shell station at CR 486 and CR 491 in Lecanto. And this wasn't the longest line in the county.
crazyjim Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Mailman told us yesterday that all the gas stations in Dunnellon had gas. Forgot to ask about lines. Gong out to Ocala today for a doctor appointment. Will be trying to fill a 5 gallon jug on the way home.
1930fordpickup Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Good to hear from all of you guys down there.
my66s55 Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Well, all went well except I have no power. The storm did a god job of trimming up the branches of my trees. Nothing now but boredom as everything I want to do tacks power. I don't care for this cell phne version.
