pack rat Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 (edited) Finally...one of my own projects...finished! Doing kits for other guys has left very little time for my own stuff. I pulled this Lincoln from the to-do pile last winter. Being a simple curbside I figured I had a fighting chance of finishing it within a year. Paint is Tamiya TS-42 Light Gunmetal; not the sort of color I would normally choose for a '61-vintage subject, but when I spotted a 1:1 on the 'net in a similar color I was sold. I ditched the wide-whites for some more elegant-looking thin-line whitewalls which were just being introduced in the 1961 model year. This kit was also a test-bed for my Molotow chrome markers. I used the markers on the interior chrome, body scripts and the wheel-lip moldings They won't replace BMF entirely, but in some instances they came in real handy. Renegade Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Very nice rebuild. I have a 62 model that needs rebuilding. Maybe one of these days.
Can-Con Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Very nice ! I could see Old Blue Eyes and the rest of the Rat Pack cruising the Vegas strip after dark in that car.
PARTSMARTY Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 That looks so sweet-great save-great color !!!

Quicksilver15 Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Love the color. Early 60's Lincolns with the suicide doors are so classy.
ChrisBcritter Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Excellent job, Mike - you were lucky to find one in such good shape.I have a couple I'm working on now; the 'vert will have the same interior as yours but with a pale yellow body like the one in the brochure.
Chuck Most Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Love this. Suicide-door Connies were the height of "modern" American luxury.
carrucha Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Good job on the restoration. Nice choice of body color.
Andrew D the Jolly Roger Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Dang, but that's nice!!! Especially love the stunning interior!
