Who says something absolutely has to be 1/16 scale?  That was probably Aurora's mistake, bringing those items out in a larger/more expensive scale...

True, but would the same pieces in 1/25 scale fare that much better to justify copying and downsizing everything? It seems like an odd subject to pursue, but maybe as a stand alone parts pack, even though what Round2 seems to have shown at Nuremberg appears to be a full-size "car" box.

Spill the beans, Mike!  ;)

This car looks like it was based on the Valiant, maybe?

Dennis

They are Argentinian Dodge Polaras built by Barreiros in Spain from CKD kits and badged Dodge 3700 there.
Valiants and Darts were built in Argentina under licence until 1968, when Chrysler Argentina replaced them
with their own "Dodge Polara" which is unrelated to the US Polaras.
They might be technically and conceptually related to the Valiant/Dart, but have no direct North American counterpart.

Thanks for the info. they do kind of have the Valiant look. To me any way.

I could see running the Aurora 1/16 stuff if you had access to the molds and they were in good shape. Cutting new molds??? NO....But don't forget Monogram had bought the Aurora molds.....and they are in trouble....so leasing molds they have no plans for could happen.  And the old Aurora train wreck molds story.....even a top man at Monogram at the time says he didn't know what all they ended up owning....no hard inventory had been done at the time. Who knows???

Just a question from my curious mind. But didn't Round2 buy out all the Aurora molds, giving them access to ANYTHING that might have been buried in inventory? I do know that they have, and plan on producing some of the Aurora aircraft, and a few other things that were released as both Aurora and Polar lights, (that Round2 does have possession of) and don't forget (even though I would like to) those kinda silly monsters that seem to pop up when we least expect (or want) them. Any reputable news or facts on any of this? Or even corrections to my fading memory would be welcomed. ??

Monogram bought the assets of Aurora when they went under. The Monogram Jag XKE, Austin Martin and 250 GTO were all Autoa molds. All the PL 'Aurora' kits were clones of the original molds.

If he's on a ladder checking out stuff on the upper shelves and the ladder slips causing him to hold on to said shelf to avoid falling, does that make him a hanging Chad?

NOT much this month ,I still wish they would make a yearly catalogue so we can see what's coming .

Yearly catalogs cost money, too much money and that's why they were cut from the budget.

Might not have what you want but at least Round 2 are still trading. The sales of blah blah do keep our kinda stuff afloat or at least just above the water. I wonder if the guys over on the sci fi forums (guess they are out there ?) are glad to get the reissues ? Cars, airplanes or spaceships all count as $$'s in the accounts dept.

I work for a building / painting contractors here in the UK and things are REAL tough here at the moment, guess as tough in model kit industry ? I'd rather see reissues than no issues.

Years ago the model companies gave out catalogs to promote their upcoming products and to touch base with their current products as well. Well when companies had to downsize to cut cost, they had to get rid of some employees, cut production & shipping costs, and also do away with the free catalogs.

I used to go to the Unlimited Hydroplane races starting in 1990 and the sponsors would give away a lot of swag including pens, key chains, hats, buttons, pins, photos, printed material, etc. After a few years of this, one could see the decline of some of this swag due to the high cost of doing business. Just to sponsor a boat in the early 90's was one million  dollars a year, and then the cost started rising as the years went by.

Yep, it's all about the money.

I avoid watching the videos altogether. Verbosity and dullness are a lethal  combination when it comes to shilling goods. I prefer hitting the R2 website and hope to see some projected products which might interest me. Chad is better suited to hawking handcrafted macaroni-on-velvet artwork at a local Saturday artisanal flea market.

Was there not one auto model kit in that video?( I skim the video)

Just the '57 Fantasy Parts Pack, so...kinda? :D

I watch them to see which kits Autoworld still has on the racks behind Chad, really. Between Round2's facebook and Instagram pages, and other online retailers, the info about which kits are coming and what they contain is usually available before these monthly videos.

In general, I like Chad's videos. But, I had two problems with this one. 1. There was nothing I'm interested in picking up. 2. Chad's microphone technique was off. When talking, he needs to continue talking into the mic. So nothing excites me from Round 2 for this month of March. That's okay. I need to slow down on buying models. And build what I've got.

At least one old Aurora aircraft kit has been released by Atlantis:  the Hughes Airwest DC-9 in 1/72 scale.  That box art sure takes me back...

The two automotive kits for March are the '69 Olds 442 & '86 El Camino SS, which of course were featured in the last video...which again points out that while it's nice they make an effort to communicate new products to customers, it's by no means an accurate one in terms of - "Things in this video = Available this Month."

Does anyone have any info on when the Dyno Don car is supposed to come out.

I built one way back when, messed it up,especially those decals.

I want to try again, and do a better job.

I appreciate Chad's/Round2's videos. I'm not looking for, nor expecting a Hollywood quality production.
This one was lacking any real news for us automotive builders, although James does point out that last months video does mention two kits possibly due for the shelves soon.
Not every month is going to be a jackpot for us, and I accept that.
Considering that many of us builders are not getting any younger, I am amazed that this part of our hobby can sustain itself at all.

If you want to know what kits are coming out in a specific month, you have to go to the Auto World website and look under Future Releases. It's usually 30-60 days in advance in which case you'll see the two models I mentioned are listed for March. The lack of time-specific accuracy had been a problem since Round2 started these videos.
