PatW Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 This came resin cast from Glenn Polkington in Australia..... And this is the finished item, all I needed to find was clear plastic for the front and rear windows. I also added alloy intakes on top of the engine............. Being a resin kit the wheels had to be painted as in the original Monogram plastic kit they were chromed.
Safire6 Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 I remember building that when I was a kid! Thanks for the memories!Steve
Dave Van Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Nice work!! How much and how do you get one??
PatW Posted November 8, 2017 Author Posted November 8, 2017 Nice work!! How much and how do you get one??Thanks Dave, The cost including shipping to the UK was $104AUS. Glenn's ebay site is resinblob64, although this one isn't on there, so contact him on glenn.polky@skymesh.com.au.
PatW Posted November 8, 2017 Author Posted November 8, 2017 I remember building that when I was a kid! Thanks for the memories!Steve Thanks Steve, I would like to find a rare plastic kit of it though!
aurfalien Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Hi,Wow this is a rally cool kit and your work is excellent.
PatW Posted November 8, 2017 Author Posted November 8, 2017 This came out cool. Cheers Andy. Yes it was good to work on. I would call it a typical resin kit, very little flash, nice thin body panels, but slightly thicker interior unit that needed a bit of shaving down, but otherwise very good detail. Someone found me the build plans on coffin corner 2 site.
PatW Posted November 8, 2017 Author Posted November 8, 2017 NIce! That is such a bizarre car. Thanks randyc, yes, weird shape suits me down to the ground!
donb Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 I certain-T enjoyed the car! Sorry, I couldn’t resist! Nice build Pat. One of the few show cars Iike.
StockBoresMe Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 This car is so cool. But the only thing I can think when I see it is that poor drivers neck
Davewilly Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Very cool Pat!It would be cool if the guys at revell could find-fix that mold...being it wasnt destroyed or lost
PatW Posted November 8, 2017 Author Posted November 8, 2017 Hi,Wow this is a rally cool kit and your work is excellent.Cheers aurfalien.
vintagercr Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Patrick, that looks sharp. I got one from Australia a couple of years ago. Need to build it.
PatW Posted November 9, 2017 Author Posted November 9, 2017 Thanks Steve and yes you need to build it and show it off!
TooOld Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Nice one Pat , it looks cool in t hose colors !
PatW Posted November 9, 2017 Author Posted November 9, 2017 Thanks Bob. Yes all of the images of model or 1:1 had black roofs, not contrasting enough!
Plastheniker Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Excellent work, all the more as it is a resin model.
PatW Posted November 9, 2017 Author Posted November 9, 2017 Thanks Jurgen. Yes as you say about resins, you just have to be patient and shave a bit off here and a bit off there and hey presto it all fits together! But it helps when it's a top quality kit as well.
bobthehobbyguy Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Nicely done. Would love to get one of the original kits but not for the crazy stupid prices that they go for.
PatW Posted November 10, 2017 Author Posted November 10, 2017 Thanks Bob, yes I've been looking for one of the original kits for years now so took the opportunity to get one of these as soon as I heard about them.Like the Hawk Sandpiper I bought earlier this year for a very good price after seeing one on ebay.com for nearly $200, take the last nought off and I got mine for that! It's very much a waiting game but for how long!
Bugatti Fan Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Looks like a nice resin kit. Looks as though it was cast off original kit parts. Nice to see it around again albeit in resin. I remember building one when it first came out way back in the sixties I think. Still have the box top photo in a folder as well as some pages of articles about detailing the kit and modifying it from an old copy of Model Car & Science published from way back when.
