Nice! They heard my cries for the return of the 90's AMT/ERTL kits!

The Chevy 454 SS has to be next, right? ^_^

I remember buying them for $5.00 at Big Lots, they go for silly money now, so yeah, R2 will no doubt be bringing them back soon!

I’m excited to see what extra goodies come with the van. I’m hoping it comes with that rear step bumper.

I hope they get the NYPD decals of the era right. The kit could prove to be popular just for the sheet if it’s accurate.

Yes, hopefully they found the insert for the Police Van-specific parts, shown on the below instruction sheet:

Two blue transparent beacon style lenses will probably be included, too, for this version.

Well, the litter, fire extinguisher, and rear compartment seat already exist in the Rescue Van kit. If the police specific parts are on a separate sprue, it may be fiarly easy for Round2 to include them. As for the decals, I suspect that they will be the original artwork, cleaned up, and with added options. That has been the way almost all of the "New, Expanded" Round2 Decals sheets are handled. None of the police parts are shown as being chrome, so they may be easy to add to the kit.

Isn't this similar to the Rescue Van that was released last year?

Yes, but both the white and red versions were released in March of 2014.

Does anybody know what police options came with the original police van? Just what’s shown in Casey’s attachments?

I really like the shotgun/rifle rack for the dash. That’s a piece that is always neglected in every police kit.

I think that's all, as that's a scan of the original instruction sheet, at least the pertinent page with the accessories shown.

Maybe more/some overlap between the various build versions here?:

The Police Van sounds interesting.  The one I’d really like to see is the Open Road camper, but that would require new body tooling.

OMFG yes, I would like to see Camper version reissues too, but as you pointed out, I doubt they will spend the money on doing a new tooling for the body.

AMT 1/25 1980 Toyota SR5 4x4 Pickup (snap)

Awesome,  that will be the perfect kit for the Year You Were Born theme, without giving away my age.

Although the one box art pic I can find on Google the box art shows 1979

The headlights changed to rectangular in 1982, so this could be a '79-'81.

I'm not horribly excited about this reissue TBH-- 30 pieces and lots of molded in detail everywhere.

Wonder if they'll include the parts from the Fire Chief version, that's one of the FIRST first models I ever built as a kid.  As you point, not a super fabulous kit, but it'll look good sitting next to the Datsun and the various Hasegawa Sunnys.  Speaking of Japanese mini-trucks, we can't be too far away from reissues of the Ford (Mazda) Courier, and Dodge (Mitsubishi) Ram 50 at this point...

I remember seeing this kit as a kid, never had one.  Looking forward to getting one, and it's the only stock Hilux of that era available that I know of (Aoshima has a custom lowrider one).
