665@213
Happy New Year everyone. I started on this a while ago. If you grew up in the 80s and were into hot rods and cars in general, then you probably have seen this car! Scott Sullivan built this car in the mid 80s and this is my all time favorite pro street car. That says a lot coming from a Ford guy lol. It won't be an exact replica, but very close. I started with an AMT 55 post kit, and used the Revell 1967 Chevelle pro street chassis and suspension. More to come, and as always, all comments are welcome. First the real car: Now the model: Edited January 14, 2018 by 665@

"Recognized" it just by the post title.  Very iconic Pro Street car, so looking forward to how this progresses.

mikemodeler
The mock up pictures seem to indicate that you have the look, now you just need to get it painted! Love this car, very subtle but definitely a hot rod.
Daddyfink
Love that car! Followed it's adventures in Hot Rod back then! Your build is looking real good.
bytownshaker
Like everyone here I loved Scott's 55, it was so clean and simple ( less is more ). This build is going to be good one to follow.
665@213
Thanks for the comments! I got a little more done in the 55. The 1:1 has its vent windows removed and cowl area shaved. I also started on the mechanical side as well. The engine and transmission are from the Foose Cadillac kit, the intake from the AMT 57 Chevy street machine kit, and an air cleaner from an AMT 68 GT500 thats been shortened and smoothed. Headers are from the Revell 67 Chevelle Pro Street kit, with modified collectors. I hope to have the body in color by the end of the month. The color came from the man himself, Scott Sullivan. He was nice enough to send me a pint of paint from Ohio, so the color will be dead on. As always, all comments are welcome. Â Â

chadrob30
I remember the articles from Hot Rod as well. I always thought it was odd that he would allow them to dump Cheez Whiz on the car for a photo lol
665@213
Thanks for the comments! I got a few things taken care of on the 55. The 1:1 Has a set of breathers on each valve cover. I used the breathers from the Revell 41 Willys street rod and added them to some quarter round styrene rod to make them. Next is the inner fender wells. Heres the real engine: And here's the 1:25th scale. Â Edited January 14, 2018 by 665@
jeffdeoranut
great work so far!! im not surprised that scott sent you some paint. I met him at the 88 street nats in duquion il and he seemed like a nice guy.
rsxse240
I too remember it! I think I may still have the Hot Rod magazines it was in. I remember they had a bottle of cheese wiz with a hose hanging from the hood like an I.V. and the hose just kind of disappeared into the engine somewhere.  This is a cool build. I can't wait to see what too with it!
