1/25 AMT Kenworth/Challenge Transit Mixer

I believe the challenge is a 10 yard barrel . The chain drive was common now they use a hydraulic gear box to rotate the barrel. The rex 770 or mtm mcneilus comes to mind .

Yes, that looks very close to the AMT kit. The whole mixer setup is a good bit shorter than the Ertl mixer setup.

still in selling mode...last Sept. I gave 300 kits in concession and today brought him 40 more....gonna repeat this process  several times more, in the coming months so that in the end I have a stash with must haves (and partly build) only. (no need to send a PM about it, all goes through this vendor)

I’m just glad Moebius has taken another risk and have their flat bed trailer coming, especially from a company who don’t even specialise in vehicles. Another new truck kit would be nice though. Would be nice if round 2 would dabble in a new truck kit. Let’s see what 2021 brings.

Say Ben...what ever happened to the plans of an Australian model company to develop and produce two model kits of Australian trucks and one heavy duty trailer?

Are you sure...I mean the torsion bar suspension was discontinued very early in the production and the tooling was changed, the run for the torsion bars could maybe have been blocked off in the tool but if it would have been easy to just open it up and run plastic through there I think they would have done it allready and make the W925 a W925 again.

Drake has gone quiet on that development. I personally doubt it will ever happen. I hope I’m wrong. Word was they were to be similar to the Moebius products. Their prototype of the low loader drake trailer was certainly impressive and looked like it was going to happen. No prototype of the Kenworth K200 was publicly shown. However, they’ve kept up with their diecast production and continue to develop and release 1/50 diecast and they sell like hot cakes.

The spoked rims, wider two piece plastic front tires and two mixer drive options was in the first issue too, the only difference as I understand it is the rear suspension and maybe some slight modifications to the mixer tool to fit the "new" suspension.
Tim Ahlborn at the MTDG facebook group said a couple of days ago that AMT deleted the torsion bar suspension and replaced it with walking beam on all Kenworth W925 and K123 kits 1975, and the Challege Mixer kit have only been issued once and it was before the suspension change, the "new" walking beam suspension is in fact is more appropriate for this truck as the torsion bar suspension was for highway use with lower rating and was more light duty than the walking beam.
