Brianl Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 This is the old Fujimi kit. I have added a set of GT3 wheels & detailed a top of the motor to make it a bit more interesting. Colour is based on the Bib Stillwell GT40. Bib was a prominent racer down here who had a very desirable stable of race cars. Brian
Gramps46 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Wow Brian, very striking color scheme. Those wheels sure do make a big difference.
Anglia105E Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 I like this build of yours a lot Brian, and I haven't see a GT40 in this colour before. My favourite colour scheme would be the Gulf blue and orange, but your black and yellow is just as good. Nice Fujimi kit and the first photo looks like the real car. David
vamach1 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 (edited) Did you do a full engine or just the top half? The air cleaners look great. Edited January 6, 2018 by vamach1
Brianl Posted January 6, 2018 Author Posted January 6, 2018 That's the car!!! Awesome isn't it. Didn't want to copy the colour scheme exactly, its more of a tribute thing. I used an old block & added some cam covers, some wiring, a set of down-draft webbers & the home made air cleaners. I originally wanted to put in the trumpets on the webbers but couldn't get the right ones. Thanks for the comments Brian
DustyMojave Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Pretty nice. I recognized the GT40 from your build. The number 61 in the last photo came immediately to mind. It gets a lot of miles in Vintage racing the last couple of decades.
PatW Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Superb colours well done! I was at the Silverstone circuit when the original cars were released to the motoring press and did a few laps as well!
Silver Foxx Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Nice work Brian , this looks awesome , well done .
