YBlock292 Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 1969 Plymouth Barracuda: Just another old MPC-kit with new decals and new box art. So I did not build the engine. Paint is Tamiya TS 37 (Lavender) with TS 65 (Pearl Clear).
Classicgas Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Very well done. Very nice work on the recall rims.
Snake45 Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Clean build, great photography, you almost convinced me that was a factory color!
YBlock292 Posted January 20, 2018 Author Posted January 20, 2018 Thank You, guys! Yes, it seems that the color came close to "Panter Pink" which was available in 1969.
geetee66 Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Ba ba! Ra ra! Cu cu! Da da! looks fantastic. The front 3/4 shot looks 1:1.
mangodart Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Hey nice build, finally this kit can look nice even if it's "simple" late 60ies MPC material !!!
espo Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Great looking rebuild. I like the color, I just bought a can and wondered what it would look like.

I don't believe it was, but I've seen lots of real '66-'69 Mopars painted in the wild 1970 colors like Sublime, Hemi Orange, Plum Crazy, etc., and somehow they seem to pull it off. And so does your VERY well done model!
DustyMojave Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 (edited) Nice build. I don't want this to be mis-interpreted as criticism of this build, so note that in the following I'm offering reference to those who might want to build a more detailed late 60s Barracuda and look at this thread. I'm building a phantom Trans Am race Barracuda from the same MPC '69 kit. Since I'm building a race car, the interior needs to be "stripped". My research into what that stripped interior should look like shows that MPC got the rear sides of the interior WAAAAYYYY wrong. The side panels should extend straight up from the floor all the way to the outer edges of the rear window. With a wrap at the front edge of those panels to the back edge of the side windows. It would have been easier mold-making wise to make it correct, but it would have meant a much deeper mold cavity, thus a deeper mold. That may be why MPC chose to mold the interior as stopping at the bottom of the side window sills. Edited January 21, 2018 by DustyMojave
6bblbird Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Hard to make that kit look good. You did a great job! WF
Dann Tier Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Beautiful as usual!!!! -if I've already detailed a certain engine, I wont do it again either, I glue the hood down too. For me, I only need one detailed version of ANY engine. this also allows my supplies to go further. OUTSTANDING JOB!!!
