JollySipper Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 I just received my '58 Edsel from Model Roundup, and it has the wrong body in it........... It has the Pontiac kit's body. I know it's something that happened in packaging, and I've given Round2 a call, we'll see if they return it. Just passing this along...........
Jon Cole Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Well, don't that blow! Hope they make it right, and right quick.
JollySipper Posted March 8, 2018 Author Posted March 8, 2018 The '62 Catalina "body bag" as he called it.... I HOPE it's just my one kit that got the wrong part! I talked to someone on the phone, they said it would be 2 to 3 weeks for a replacement, is this a normal wait time with them?

I was missing a part from a kit (actually, a whole sprue) and contacted Round 2 - they sent it almost exactly 3 weeks later and then it arrived a week or so later.
mike 51 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 It took 6+ weeks to get a new cab from Revell recently FWIW.

There is Chinese quality control for you! It seems to happen more frequently nowadays. Edited March 8, 2018 by Force

niteowl7710 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Those special Edseliacs...(Pontidsels?) must be for celebrating the 50 Year Anniversary...
SfanGoch Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 You could always use it as a donor to build one of these
Dave Van Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Doubt it's all of them.......R2 most times get a case via air freight to check out before hand.....or they did at one time. If you know how the Chinese manufacture in the batch methods I can see a bagged body being left behind and thrown in the next run of kits.

SfanGoch Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 That's an Anycar. There were four or five different Anycars used in car loan ads for Manufacturers Hanover Trust bank in the 1970s.

JollySipper Posted March 27, 2018 Author Posted March 27, 2018 I got the body today! I've never seen more positive placement holes for bumpers and such...... I'm curious, has anyone else bought one of these kits and received the wrong body? I'm hoping that my kit was just a mix-up in packaging.........
youpey Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 did you have to send any proof or anything that you got the wrong body. i had bought a mustang convertible kit from revell a while back and the window frame was broken. they told me i had to mail them the body and they would inspect it and then mail me a replacement, but i had to pay for shipping for the mailing to them, which would have cost about 1/3 the price of the model. this was probably about 10 years ago, and it was the last time i bothered calling them about an issue. i didnt bother to send it to them, and just ended up never finishing the build.
JollySipper Posted March 27, 2018 Author Posted March 27, 2018 Nah, the guy at Round2 was very friendly and helpful......... even though he was a bit frustrated that I had called him with the problem at the end of his work day..... I only had to give them my address

My experience with Revell has always been positive on part issues, but I'm afraid there are those that would take advantage of Revell and that may account for their request to verify the damage.

Is there a production/packaging date on the bottom of the kit box containing the incorrect body?

It turned me off of revell for a long while, and i didnt buy any of their new kits for years after that. i would only buy older or "used" kits. it was my version of "not giving them my money" i figured it was similar with this case because it was the body needing to be replaced. Not that I can find, Casey...... where would I look for that? There is a date stamped inside each body, they are about a month apart..........
espo Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 I think that any production date or "run" information would be included in the Bar Code on the box. I have had to have two bodies replaced by Revell and both went well. I had purchased a '56 Chevrolet Nomad, after sitting in my to do pile for a couple of years I found the body sides were bowed way out when I got around to opening it. I made my claim on line and with the Bar Code and kits box number they replaced it. The other time was the Foose Cadillac because of the broken Windshield. Same processes and no problem. I think on the Caddy Revell was aware of a packaging problem and I know of several others that had to have the bodies replaced. I'm still a little surprised that they wanted the old body for verification of a problem.
Rob Hall Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Got one of the new issues in the mail today, has the correct Edsel body. But it says '50 Years of Edsel' on the wrapping. Sloppy, sloppy...Round 2 needs a proofreader for their packaging...
