pack rat Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Dusting the shelves again and took some new pics of one I finished a few years ago. A Johan 61 Plymouth Fury I purchased as a built-up and restored. Not a glue bomb; it was cleanly built by an adult. The only issue was discovered after I stripped it; the body had been broken into two or three pieces and repaired. I just had to putty and smooth out some of the repaired cracks before priming-no biggie.
Watertown Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Gorgeous!! Nicely done, and I love the color selection.
mike 51 Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Very nice! (This was the first model I got with my own money (when I was 10 years old) no paint .but lots of scallop decals!)
StevenGuthmiller Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 (edited) Gorgeous! Nice choice of colors! I bought one a few years back & built it, & it still stands as one of the most expensive kits that I ever bought! Probably not one of the prettiest cars or most desirable kits, but definitely rare and still my all time Holy Grail kit! Very nice work Mike!! Steve 12 hours ago, mike 51 said: Very nice! mike 51 Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 (edited) I think I paid $1.25 or so for mine (57 years ago)....had to collect quite a few pop bottles to pay for it Edited April 30, 2018 by mike 51
DumpyDan Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Really nice, one of my favorite cars, I almost had my hands on a 1/1 4 door a couple years back.
espo Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 You would never know from looking at it now that the body had been broken. Your paint and trim really make this a standout.
crazyjim Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Not my favorite car but your looks fantastic. Love the SHINY
Steamboat Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Beautiful job! You made it prettier than Plymouth could ever do. Some would say that Virgil Exner was already experiencing dementia when he designed it.
John Goschke Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Beautiful job restoring this space age dream car!
Ron Hamilton Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 That is a nice build! I have a 65 Chrysler 300 Convertible that I restored several years ago. I noticed a crack developing on the left rear fender, so I may have to strip it, repair and repaint it. I am going to a different color, and go to a replica stock build with it.
gtx6970 Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Love it. Sure wish I could find a clean builder for my own. Thats one of a few I have yet to come up with for myself

BigTallDad Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 That's a very nice looking model of a truly ugly car.
