Belugawrx Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Looking good there JC.... Air plenum looks the part for sure..keep it going Cheers
Jason Sheer Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 JC, this is coming out awesome! Love the contrast . What body color are you going with?
afx Posted September 30, 2018 Author Posted September 30, 2018 Thanks Bruce. Jason body will be red similar to the plastic color. Front struts installed with some added bolt detail. Hood fit. Added strips of .010" to either side of the hood to tighten the gaps.
mustang1989 Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 That's some nice 'n tidy detail work you've got going on in that engine compartment JC. Very cool.
Twokidsnosleep Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 Look at those red beauties all lined up all factory fresh...would love to get my mitts on one now Agree on the clean engine bay and a perfect bonnet fit
afx Posted October 2, 2018 Author Posted October 2, 2018 Thanks Joe & Scott. I adapted the Fujimi EM wheel hubs so I could use their Fuchs wheels. Everything else is as it comes in the Italeri kit.
Italianhorses Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 Nicely done. I like the Fujimi EM hub idea.

afx Posted October 3, 2018 Author Posted October 3, 2018 Thanks Alex & Dann. Started work on the interior. With (nearly) full glass and a black interior I don't think I will go crazy on the detail. I did that with my Escort RS1800 build and most of the work is very hard to see.
Italianhorses Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 Yeah, I tend to not over-do the areas I can't see after completion. What's the point? Yeah, I know its there, but there is very little satisfaction in that.
Dann Tier Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 I agree with you and Alex, JC!...I use to detail EVERYTHING, but decided that you cant see it, its using supplies that could be used on another kit, and now I have MORE time to build MORE kits as well......its a win-win situation!, plus, i'm not taking anything apart just to prove that I did something...lol

You've already added some outstanding details anyway, bud!!…...I never build the same detail levels with my kits, mood, level of how much I like the car/kit, and so on, dictates how much will be added.
afx Posted October 8, 2018 Author Posted October 8, 2018 (edited) Finished interior other than painting the rim and anchor post for the spare. Tool kit is from the Fujimi EM kit with thread as bungee straps. Driver seat also comes from the EM kit, co-driver seat from a glue bomb Hasegawa rally kit. Lug wrench is a white metal part from Racing 43. Edited October 8, 2018 by afx
Belugawrx Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 Looking good so far JC What material do you use for your belts ? Looks realistic ! Nice work on the roll cage too
afx Posted October 8, 2018 Author Posted October 8, 2018 (edited) Thanks Bruce. Belts are made from the tissue paper that is provided in the PE belt sets. I cut it into strips and color it with a Sharpie. Edited October 8, 2018 by afx
Tommy124 Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 This is looking like a top notch job, JC (and it sure IS one)! I love the idea of creating an exclusive or rare niche model based on a mass production model. I'd like to see how you do the 4 square air inlet holes on the front of the car. Have you worked that out yet?
Dann Tier Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 WOW!!!......Its getting close to the finish line!!!

Have you worked that out yet? Thanks Thomas. I did create the openings on the first body (with the fender flares). But I don't think I'll added them on the final version as they would mostly be hidden by the auxiliary lights. Edited October 8, 2018 by afx
dublin boy Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 Excellent work JC. Make the lights detachable? Nice to see the cut outs on the nose.
