This all looks great Dann. Agreed, the scribing sure does make a very noticeable difference in bring these to life. Good luck with the rest of the interior colours and assembly. I find you organized approach/MO in your assembly/painting process inspiring.

Tina told me that sometimes when I screw parts up, its because Gods gonna help me make it better, and it happens all the time to me. This dashboard is no different. I was able to add two vents that it has, and I figured out a better...easier way to paint what I messed up earlier!

Now that's a positive attitude... The vents look good! They weren't on the board before, right? Other than that I fail to see what you have "messed up"...

Btw is that your masterplan of what your next builds will be, on the yellow chart??

No they weren't, Tommy, The part I screwed up on was when I was painting the centercolumn black, the paint got too thick and looked horrible.....shoulda just masked it like I always do......which is what i'm doing now....lol      That is a list of what I will be building in the future.....theres a lot of other ones higher up on the list though.....lol     The next group of builds will be; Fujimi's Ferrari 288 GTO, Aoshima's Lamborghini Countach 5000QV  FI, Tamiya's Porsche 959, and Hasegawas Jaguar XJ-S.

That's a great choice of kits, all of which (except for the Aoshima Lambo) I have built a long time ago. Meaning I will have to build them once more sometime... :D I trust you will make WIP's for all of them??

If I you allow me, Dann, I'd like to show a Porsche 959 from Canepa, the most beautiful I have seen so far. Because, let's face it, a great car bust mostly all the same colors. This one looks different, yet classic to me: https://canepa.com/1988-porsche-959-canepa-gen-iii/

If anyone wants to know the color name, it's Seal Grey, as Bruce Canepa kindly let me know on my request. I have that color on stock already...

  • Dann Tier changed the title to Hasegawas Lamborghini Miura SV....new update

Okay, everyone, these past two days, I've been really cracking-on with most of the builds. For the Miura, I was able to paint the wheels, fix the steering wheel, and redo the dash for the third, and final time, and i'm pretty happy with it now. The PE vents I chose for the dash-top, were just too big, so I decided to just drill them out.  Here is the spoon-test for the body kolor too...

Hi Dann,

I've seen this kit being done for so many times now and yet I'm sure you will add a new level of quality to it...

Very anxious to see your further process, especially the "honeycomb grille trick"... :D

Btw, isn't it strange that this type of grille is not available as separate aftermarket material in our beloved modelling scale? At least I have not found anything to this day. One could use this on several models besides the Miura, Ford GT 2016, for instance...

Thanks, Thomas!, It wont be long before I get to that Honeycomb grille, and yes, I think its Very odd/stupid that there isn't a PE part for that grill. The best PE set that I've seen...and have, is from Studio 27, but they not only lack that part, but they only give you ONE "Eye lash" headlamp base...….but you get the "lashes" for both!!?????....who does that????   I thought that maybe it was just loose in the package, or they forgot to put the other one in, but when I ordered my second set...…..it wasn't there either!!!!    I still love their PE set though.....heres what it looks like.....

I'd like to come back on this honeycomb grille issue if you don't mind, Dann. I contacted a small German specialist for PE aftermarket parts regarding this. He's doing quite a lot of parts for American car kits actually. I asked him if he was interested in making these PE parts that are so dearly missed on the market - and he agreed to do it!

At this stage he is creating the design that will become the master for the PE parts. There will be a bigger and a smaller version. See the images:

BIG:

SMALL:

small.thumb.jpg.986eb4d00372e51f90568992eed236b4.jpg

The bigger one will have honeycombs in size 4.3mm x 1.5 mm each - perfect size for the Miura! The smaller one will have honeycombs in size 2.8 mm x 0.80 mm each, designed for smaller grilles in modern cars like the Ford GT 2016. Both products will come in size 88 x 44 mm net, 92 x 54 mm with the frame. The products will be available for purchase in around 4 weeks time.

Again, I hope you don't mind me showing this here, Dann, but I find this to be good news to all modelers who don't have skills (and nerves) good enough to drill the grilles open... :D

Just to point out that I don't have any commercial ties to this, but if someone should be interested in this, I'll gladly help. Shipping to the US won't be an issue...

Hi Dann, good choice - classic Italian metallic "Blu" will look good on the Miura. Great work on the dashboard too. I have the feeling, you put more effort into that one part than many modelers into the whole kit...

LOL!, thanks, Thomas!

If you allow once more, Dann...

Coming back to the aforementioned PE honeycomb grille parts...

They are available for purchase now. I have my own parts already and they do look great. I would have liked to insert a link to the shopsite of MBM Munich (the seller) but they have an issue with setting the new site up IT-wise at the moment, so I'll post a link to their seller's section of a German modeler's forum instead. I hope that's okay. You can see images, dimensions and prices there. Here you go: http://www.wettringer-modellbauforum.de/forum/index.php?page=Thread&postID=836012#post836012

As I mentioned before, I don't have any commercial ties to this, but if someone should be interested in this, I'll gladly help. So if any of you would like me to help make contact to Fredl (that's the guy), please send a PM.

Those honeycomb grilles are fantastic!  I am definitely interested in at least one of each.  The M1 and Tii sets also have a need for.  How can I order these?

Dann, you certainly have my interest with this one (along with the DB5).  The Miura has been one of my all time favorite cars - the styling is still great after 50 years.  I hoped that Fujimi would release it in their EM series, but I guess it wasnt to be.  So the Hasegawa kit is now on its way. I will be interested to see how the engine bay detail compares to the 'Tilt' kit of the Jota, which I thought was pretty good. (so why did I trade to Kennyboy???)

Now if I could just find that Urraco.....
