vamach1 Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Even with this many bodies I still have some ideas for a few more colors. Only one mishap - a run on the blue fastback which I will correct when it dries. Getting the brownish color for the Eleanor was an expirement.
mod3l Lover Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Why so many Rex? They do look good though!!!

Dragonhawk1066 Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 All are looking good. Real car in the background looks good too. I don't want to know how your arm feels, I primed two bodies and a few parts in one day recently and it felt like my wrist was going to fall off.
vamach1 Posted September 4, 2018 Author Posted September 4, 2018 Decided on doing a competition orange Boss 351 (special order colors) instead of the metallic blue. Just for a change I primed a 96 Cobra convertible with black metallic to be covered with Testors color shift and Tamiya clear to replicate the mystic chrome paint.
cobraman Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 That's a lot of Mustangs ! Looking forward to seeing them finished.

vamach1 Posted October 17, 2018 Author Posted October 17, 2018 (edited) Did I miss any colors? I have four bodies left plus the Minuteman drag car. I am thinking a lighter metallic blue, Lime green, silver and perhaps a medium green. Edited October 17, 2018 by vamach1
cobraman Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Wow ! That is quite a heard of Mustangs you have there. I thought my Cobra addiction was bad.

Here's a couple of 71s I want to do.......
Bob Ellis Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 71-73 Mustangs are sort of a forgotten car. Would be nice if an updated model arrived.

Dann Tier Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 That's one awesome stable you got going there!!
spike morelli Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 I have a "still-in-the-plastic-sealed-wrapper" '71 Mach 1 kit, not sure when and if I'll get to building it. There's also the real thing sitting in the driveway.....a Medium Yellow-Gold one.
Tommy124 Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 Quite a bunch! I love those late 60's and early 70's Mustangs the most. Like this one: https://www.classicdriver.com/en/article/cars/ford-mustang-mach-1-bonds-favourite-pony
DumpyDan Posted November 10, 2018 Posted November 10, 2018 Well done Rex, think you will get them done by the end of the year? That would be to much of one thing for me to do, all the power to ya.
Mister 4x4 Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 I hate that the color palette isn't even close to reality. For instance, Ford Paint Code 'V' - Light Pewter Metallic. It's one of those colors that kind of depends on the lighting.

Yes - I have a friend with a 73 Mach1 that color and it's on my list - just a hard color to find a match. Funny how it look green on my screen. Edited November 19, 2018 by vamach1

Those yellow orangish colors are a challenge. Model car World should be able to mix it. I will start will yellow over an orange base and if not satisfied try mixing my own. I have some very large spray cans of Wimbledon white and grabber blue for a sprint I had and of course Medium Bright Yellow of my Mach1. Those came from Mustang parts vendors and it's made by Raindow Industries. I did some more searching and it is slim pickings for exterior paint. All I could find is one vendor on Ebay that might custom mix it for about $20. None of the Mustang places sell the body paint anymore. Probably some environmentalists complained too much. Found one more source that looks promising but not cheap. See below for TouchUp direct. Edited November 20, 2018 by vamach1 Paint
Keesee17 Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Thanks for the info Rex... I was suspecting that I would need to mix the Goldenrod paint by hand... It shouldn’t be too difficult to get a convincing match. I’ll be visting a nice hobby shop in St. Louis over thanksgiving that has a good selection of Tamiya sprays so maybe find something there...
